Feel free to call me a cynic but Johnson’s irrational and population controlling bias is his modus operandi.
I disagree. Boris is desperate to be loved and is a popularist politician. He is fundamentally quite centrist (per many observers) - he is no Priti Patel. If Johnson is such a popularist, do you believe the majority of the population support a Covid passport for travel or otherwise? And if so do you believe the majority of the population believe the vaccine doesn’t work sufficiently well, because this is the only reason Covid passports might be required? Unfortunately, he’s making it up as he goes along and controlling the population remains central to his modus operandi, so by definition this must be what then majority of then public want?
Travelling solo can be incredible, even when things go absolutely tits up!
One of my fondest memory is when Trenitalia decided to cancel the train I was riding in, mid-journey, at some backwater stop in Lombardy. Shared a very funny night in a platform waiting room with an Italian bloke I met. Him with his broken English, me with my broken Italian. Fantastic.

Mine is attending a religious street festival in Malta and being taken back to a families house to share their dinner with them. One of my fondest memory is when Trenitalia decided to cancel the train I was riding in, mid-journey, at some backwater stop in Lombardy. Or in California ending up in a hot tub with 4 very nice girls. A hot tub that had a beer fridge within reach.

I agree he’s a follower of what he believes is public opinion (usually driven by biased YouGov polls), rather than being a leader, which is why we are in this mess.
At least we agree on something.COVID-19: Jet2 suspends flights and holidays until late June due to uncertainty over government travel plans

I was due to fly to Portugal with them May 30th. All the signs looked promising but i didnt expect the holiday to be cancelled so soon. I will be mighty pissed if the flights are re loaded after may 17th at inflated prices. Luckily they are very good with refunds, usually within days of cancellation.http://news.sky.com/story/jet2-suspends-flights-an...
Wife now wants to book a staycation, and the throught of paying the same money to stay in a carvan on the coast for week fills me with soul destroying depression.

I think the reality is - try to find one available. Wife now wants to book a staycation, and the throught of paying the same money to stay in a carvan on the coast for week fills me with soul destroying depression.
You could go super cheap £10 tent and camp.

It’s possible that some will be reinstated but unlikely I think for May anyway. I can see some of their June schedule running where possible though. I agree though it does seem a bit early to “suspend” their entire June schedule upto the 23d when what’s possible hasn't been officially announced yet.
Have you actually had a cancellation from jet2 themselves?

I have , twice. On both occasions i was offered to rebook or a straight refund, I chose a refund and the money was in my account in a couple of days, they were very good, however I imagine the phone lines are going mad at the moment. Seems odd (to me anyway) they’ve cancelled up to end of June before any announcements have been made. Maybe they’ve had a heads up or something.
I think they’ve cancelled a bit early, tbh they did similar last year and cancelled schedules early when other operators ended up flying. Maybe they’ve only got a few destinations planned and don’t think they’ll be on the green list?

Uncertainty and bookings so far I’d wager. Seems odd (to me anyway) they’ve cancelled up to end of June before any announcements have been made. Maybe they’ve had a heads up or something.

But it’s kind of going the way I’d thought and against those thinking it’s a walk in the park.

Tenatatively checked a few spa hotel where we have stayed in 2019 and prior in the U.K. and they have tripled in price! Were £150-300 per night
Now £500 - 1100 per night!!
It’s like a very swift transition from being Mr average to being dirt poor and having to forcibly financially spend leisure time in your own back garden

It might change a bit if they make a positive announcement about foreign travel next week.
I’m not so sure. Plenty have already made a decision - the worst case you hold off thinking as you do then O/seas is a no no and then no availability or it’s so high it’s unaffordable. So a banker option is a sensible choice.
We are trying to book 2022 Aug overseas now/deposit down (Greece island or canaries or Balearics).

Didn't know that any significant announcement was still expected but comments elsewhere seemed to think only a couple of places (inc Portugal) were likely to get a green light.bad company said:

Look on the bright side. The money you save not going on that 2 weeks 5 star all inclusive to Portugal you can now have 2 nights in Harrogate for the same price..Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
