Day 2 of 4/6/8 ? weeks down in Cornwall & no signs of hoards of folk yet. Bit of body boarding at Polzeath but its too flat so time for a Kellys or 2. No que at the chippy last night and i have just booked a meal in a pub overlooking a beach for later.
Who needs Costa del plonka when you have this in the UK.

Well quite. Who needs Costa del plonka when you have this in the UK.
I like all types of holidays / and to be fair one that makes the kids happiest wins out for me. The number of times I’ve seen in Balearics Greece and canaries families pinned to sun loungers all day long guzzling the local sangria and beer with kids running riot in the pools. Then same families pissed up later on.
Rather actually doing things each and every day far more fun
Well I don’t know where all the caravans on the M6 were going then? I’ve been up and down to the midlands several times over the past few weeks and the M6 has been clear, had some great runs. Went from Manchester to Coventry and back yesterday and it was murder! Loads of caravans, camper vans and cars with bikes strapped all over them.

I think I’ve got a slight tan today from the cotswolds. Where are you living/are to see poor conditions? (We did have 3-4 inches of snow yesterday morning but then midday it was gone and clear blue sky - then beers in the pub lovely (real local ale mmmm))

It is bloody freezing when the sky clouds up. Pub lunch al fresco today was arctic.
Are you not sick to the teeth of home cooked food and fancy someone else doing the work for you and a treat? Surely pre covid you went out for meals well “crack on” and do it now hospitality industry really needs it / I’m doing my bit we need those who can do it do their bit too. Welshbeef said:

Happy to support hospitality again once I can sit indoors.Welshbeef said:

As many of you will know on here, I advocate getting travel restarted in a sensible and controlled manner, but, in the interests of providing a balanced view I thought I'd give you all a little insight of how I see the challenges posed post-17th May (assuming international travel restarts around that time). These are based on my own experiences travelling last week (I'm moving abroad in May, I was viewing houses).
- Cost. Depending on the location you're travelling to, lets assume a PCR test will be required, £120. Coming back into the UK as a minimum you'll need an Antigen test, possibly a PCR...another £100. Noting this is per person, the cost racks up quickly for a family, not withstanding the potential of a positive or false positive which could scupper the entire holiday at lastminute or worse (positive test before you fly back). Should you be arriving from other countries then we have to add in Day 2/8 testing packages or (god forbid) enforced hotel quarantine.
- Travel. Most destinations will require a declaration, per passenger, add into this a Passenger Locator Form coming back into the UK. These documents all take time and need to be factored into the holiday planning process. Also the risk of situations changing and countries moving classifications while travellers are away or being on a flight with someone who later tests positive.
- Borders. Definitely where the largest problems exist. I was fortunate enough not to come back into Heathrow, but UK Borders are performing 100% checks on passports, Passenger Locator Forms and COVID test results, leading to large lines and long processing time. At the moment its bad with restricted travel...once non-essential travel opens up I can really see this being chaos unless they do something. The last thing we need are passengers mixing from green / orange / red zones.
Taking the above into account, it won't stop me from travelling either solo or with my kids BUT I do think its going to present some issues to family travellers and I can see why it would put people off.
