I work for a small company less than 40 people, And about 70% work from home, the rest are in office.
I asked the question earlier in the week, what was work's stance on the traffic light system for holidays, and quarantine on return etc.
They have just sent an email out that, to keep it fair to everyone, if you go on holiday and have to quarantine on return, the quarantine will be un-paid, or you use annual leave, regardless if you work from home.

So it gives me more reasoning that my holiday wont go ahead to canaries in June.

If you mainly work form home, how will they know you're quarantining.

When asked, say you're going to Cornwall and don't post any Tenerife/Lanzarote/Gran Canaria pics on Facebook.

Although the 70% work from home, they do come in for the odd day once a week, (i'm one of the ones that don't wfh),

And how do you explain you have tested positive while abroad and having to quarantine in a hotel room, i guess it's all down to risk.

It is bloody freezing when the sky clouds up. Pub lunch al fresco today was arctic.
Are you not sick to the teeth of home cooked food and fancy someone else doing the work for you and a treat? Surely pre covid you went out for meals well “crack on” and do it now hospitality industry really needs it / I’m doing my bit we need those who can do it do their bit too.
You advocate supporting the hospitality industry by eating out to help out?

Didn't go very well last time we were all urged/bribed to do that IIRC. smile

I'm surprised at how relatively quiet it still is here in Cornwall.

I had to visit a customer in Newquay before lunchtime today, and there really wasn't much traffic about - not really much busier than last week.
Absolutely rammed in Padstow today.

Is the end result for your employer any different should you holiday in Cornwall and test positive when you get home?

I guess the end outcome could be different. Quarantine at home and you know you can go back to work after.

Stuck overseas and you might have to reschedule your flight; I wouldn't bank on a lot of spare capacity this summer. Plus the extra costs.

I think I’ve got a slight tan today from the cotswolds.

Where are you living/are to see poor conditions? (We did have 3-4 inches of snow yesterday morning but then midday it was gone and clear blue sky - then beers in the pub lovely (real local ale mmmm))
Where in the cotswolds are you? We are Broadway. Couple of inches of snow on Monday morning, lunch outside in the sun on tuesday!
We were in Churchill’s old gaff wink.

Anyone come across essential travel insurance for travel before 17th May?

Need to insure our flight costs in case we test positive before the flight at start of may.

No, but the consequences for everyone in this country, because some entitled type(s) brings a variant, about which we know little, into this country, could be dire. There’s a reason for current travel restrictions. If some selfish people decide to do as they like, whilst the situation is still on the knife edge that it is, they risk jeopardising everything that the majority of people have achieved, by sacrificing a few things, for ( what is ultimately) a short period of time, in the grand scheme of things. This virus is an absolute bd, that’s all there is to it, like it or like it not.

The SA mutation is doubling in 7 days in U.K. now.

Let alone the Indian double mutation which is not impacted by the vaccine and it appears to target the young /the young did not just get a bit poorly.

So do we go back into lockdown or start living our lives again? I know what I’d do.\
