It's more dangerous for me to go to my villa with just my missus, than it is for me to rub shoulders with 60 thousand people apparently.
fk right off.
I've been completely calm and patient with the whole situation since the first bits of news started to filter through from China in November/December 2019, including being in agreement with most of the Governments decisions, as well adhering to everything they have asked of me and my family, pretty much to the letter (as i'm sure most have to be fair)......but even I feel that now its just getting a bit silly. fk right off.
Relaxing rules to facilitate football fans or VIP travel is just kick in the teeth.
Pretty much towed the line since the beginning because it's a new unprecedented scenario (meaning mistakes will be made) and I don't listen to armchair rebels and internet experts.
But now? I've had enough of the inconsistency and the do as we say, not as we do culture.
Essex County Cricket Club can only have 800 people for Friday's 20:20 match (meaning I miss out) yet Wembley 30 miles away can have 60k people (many travelling from abroad).
It's completely nonsense.

Actually, it's disgraceful. We have entire industries on their knees and ..well, everyone knows the rest of the story. Assuming every incoming traveler VIP for the football travels to a minor airport, doesn't take public transport of any kind, doesn't mix in the stadium and stays alone in their hotel room then the situation may be mitigated somewhat. It's been a disgrace that football has been allowed to continue the whole way through various lockdowns anyway, but this is the wrong forum for that... .

I'm encouraged by the news regarding football capacity as this must be an indication of where the government is going with relaxation measures.Relaxing rules to facilitate football fans or VIP travel is just kick in the teeth.
The frustration is the lack of ordered intelligence as to where we are and what measures need to prevail for the next step of relaxation.
Maybe tomorrow some countries will move from Amber to Green. But we should be able to predict and see this based on empirical evidence, and not based on a political or emotional decision. The hysterical media should be ignored.

.
The gov has an excellent record of making well balanced, logical and non-spurious decisions involving going into and relaxing lockdown/lockdown lite..

Heads up, looks like Switzerland opening up to double vaccinated from next Monday, no quarantine.
Living and working here with family in the U.K., this is very much needed.

we've seen some cheap flights to Malaga around the time of our anniversary in september... but my wife is hesitant.
i am based in scotland so have to adhere to nicola's rules.
the flight is buttons, and with an airbnb (i'd get a free cancellation one) it would in total probably cost less than our planned trip to wales, plus the weather would be significantly warmer in spain!
we should both be double jabbed by that time. so hopefully no issues there.
i guess my rambling is... is it worth risking circa £150 in flights which might be lost if 1) there is a bad third wave and lockdowns 2) the requirement to stay in the quarantine hotel upon our return to scotland.
I HOPE the august 9th 'normality' date is met and then should mean much more chance of getting away to sunnier surroundings.

In fairness £150 is nothing to lose, they only doubt would be if it doesn't change could you afford to quarantine ?i am based in scotland so have to adhere to nicola's rules.

Merkel is urging all EU countries to make UK visitors quarantine! Summer holidays seem more and more unlikely, although I can’t see the likes of Portugal, Spain and particularly Greece listening to what she says.
Johnson and co. are maxing out the ‘’cases’’ in the UK the moment in the hope that other countries will reject the toxic Brits and save him having to be the bad guy yet again. Let’s hope the other countries see though this manufactured variant casedemic bks and continue to allow us in. craig1912 said:

I suggest she’s a bit sore about Brexit still, she can politely FRO WRT to what other countries do, that’s up to them, not her. The tourism boards in places such as the Greek Islands and Iberian peninsula have their loyalties more aligned with British tourists than they do with the German Chancellor. She can squeak but I doubt she’ll be heard.

Seeing nothing about Turkey easing and going amber/green.
Anyone?
I had tickets on mid july and cancelled. I've moved them to end of August. To be honest, my insider sources tell me in Tr, the vaccination speed actually suddenly went mad last few weeks. A few people I know there mid 40s, already had two pfizer job. I'm 40 and I only had my first dose a month ago FFS! Anyone?
even if its amber, I'm going really, we went last year, for two weeks, it was brilliant.

We did too….. and I agree, and hence why we have ended up booked there again. We are due to fly 15 Aug. even if its amber, I'm going really, we went last year, for two weeks, it was brilliant.
