Do we need a Summer Holidays 2022 thread? A lot of French Campsites have opened their bookings for next year, after the disappointment of this years' cancellations we're booked and ready to go. Let's hope Covid doesn't have other ideas!
Go for it! We’ve got 2 booked and 2 more planned already. Hoping we don’t plans B,C,D….again next yearManaged a good deal on the accommodation, but flight prices were insane…thankfully still the odd air miles seat that mitigated it slightly.
I managed successful trips in both 2020(!) and 2021, so am feeling confident for 2022.

We're thinking of going to Greece but worried it's going to be too hot to do anything in August.
Would like a chilled island with a bit to do if we get bored.
Nice hotel with a decent sandy beach.
It's really just for 7-10 days to recharge the batteries with some sightseeing/boat trip etc. thrown in.
Looked at package deals and prices seem to be expensive but I'm comparing it to pre Covid.

That’ll be me a week tomorrow. What was the airport like, busy? 26c yesterday, cooler today but still 21c at 20.30.
Perfect then for a bottle of local wine to drink outside with a good bit of Jazz playing.

Make sure you book your transfer or expect an hour queue for a taxi out of TFS. I can recommend ziptransfers.

Only just seen this now. Booked transfer yesterday with viva transfers. Was roughly same price give it take a few euros. Glad I have, don’t fancy waiting in the mid day heat for an hr!26c yesterday, cooler today but still 21c at 20.30.

We’ve booked a house in Tuscany for next August. With a weeks worth of travel down and back, three weeks of sun and peace will be very nice.
Plan your journey there and back quite carefully. We were there in August 2020 and traffic was an absolute nightmare - around Salo in the Lakes (2.5 hrs to travel about 6km) and on the Autoroute around Florence. The middle weekend in August is particularly bad - I think there's a Bank Holiday around then - and weekends in general are also terrible.
The traffic was so bad that we've vowed never to go back in August.

Agreed re August traffic almost anywhere in Italy but FWIW there’s a relatively quiet back door into Tuscany on the Valtiberina autostrada (I forget the number) that follows the Tiber valley down from the Bologna-Ravenna autostrada. It runs along the border with Umbria. The middle weekend in August is particularly bad - I think there's a Bank Holiday around then - and weekends in general are also terrible.

It is often easier to get to Sansepolcro and Arezzo that way and then head west than take the nearest autostrada. And, if the target is anywhere around Lake Trasimene, then it’s a no brainer.
Can’t beat it
I was back in the UK for 3 days this week. The weather, politics, peoples driving and the over population meant I was very happy to return to some sunshine today.
The Spanish authorities are only sampling their PLF’s at the airport now. Things are very relaxed on the COVID front and so little related BS and coercion from their politicians/MSM.
Looking forward to a long bike ride down by the beach in the sun tomorrow.

No unvaccinated persons between 1 and 31 December.Wonder what TUI will do if it comes into force - when we booked those rules were not in place so I would expect a full refund as someone who, as yet, is not vaccinated.

Why don't you just get vaccinated ?
