Who's going skiing and where - 2022

If anyone is planning a trip to Portes du Soleil this coming Winter (or the summer season) and wants some cheap lift passes let me know.
I've got 6x 1 day all-area passes I can't use. They're left-overs from Passportes du Soleil.
I'd take £100 for the lot. I'm not sure what Winter lift passes cost, but I'm told "a lot" so I guess that's a bargain? They have to be used by the end of the 2021/22 Winter season.

Going to attempt to book Courchevel 1850 for late February if things seem slightly more towards 'normal' by Christmas.
We went in 2020, from the 1st of March until the 8th, and then a few days after we returned Boris was on the TV telling us about the end of the world. Just scraped in.
Shame to miss 2021, but not much anyone could have done about that.

We're all booked for xmas 2021 in the Grand Masif. Its my daughters 18th when we're there so will be pretty special. I can't see them having too many silly restrictions left over by then at the current rate of vaccinations barring any new left-field CV19 super-variant. Our chalet is owned by a Brit who've been good so far and I'm sure we'd get a refund as we did this year in the worst case. We're driving so its only the hotel & Eurotunnel exposure (£300 for whole family).
Having dropped over a grand on kit in the sales this year despite not going, I have to be a glass overflowing optimist !
I've managed to secure work through to the end of the year so now my usual boys weekend in Sauze is also back on in Jan after having to drop out. Having dropped over a grand on kit in the sales this year despite not going, I have to be a glass overflowing optimist !
Can't wait

My son is at school in Davos but given we live in St. Moritz we rarely feel the need to do a lot of skiing there but have done on several occasions. We have friends in Klosters.
I find the town a bit soul-less as it's a long strip, mostly along one road through the valley. Unlike here or Zermatt everything seems a bit stretched out.
The skiing is excellent and certainly enough for a week. There are linked areas to Klosters and down the valley in the opposite direction. It's also got a very good cross-country skiing area and if you were thinking of trying that it would be one of the best places to do your first lessons. It's got one of Switzerland's biggest ice-hockey teams. It's one of the resorts where the young (and Olympic) winter sports athletes will be based.
From a cultural perspective it's much more 'domestic' in its guests than here, Zermatt etc. Davos is doable from Zurich so there are a lot of folks with weekend places there. Travel by train is excellent so getting there from Zurich airport should be easy.
If you fancy buying yourself a pair of custom-fitted boots it has one of the best places to do so. (https://www.heierling.ch/en/home)
So, you'll almost certainly enjoy it. Of course I'm biased and think you should go over one more valley and come to the Engadin instead!

In theory, still booked in for Whistler end of Jan next yr.
Canada is still due to open its international borders fully on 7 Sept, provided the epidemiological data is favourable, whatever that means. AIUI if it does, you won’t have to quarantine for 14d after arrival if you’ve been double jabbed.
All good so far. The flies in the ointment are
- direct flights. At the moment European flights are into Toronto only. Hopefully that should change once the international border opens though.
-masks on a plane? Who knows what the default will be by the end of the year.
- how open the village and the mountain will be. Some of the places in the village may not have made it. Last season the mountain operated a booking system (buy your tickets then book the days you wanted to use them). It also had SD on the lifts so no mixing with people from outside your group, and SD In the mountain restaurants. How well that was policed I have no idea.
- testing prior to return to the UK and/or after arrival in the UK. Another intractable.
We’re going next Easter. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the same regimes apply then as apply at Xmas/NY.

This is good intel, thx. We're booked (family of 4 with 2 kids) to Whistler for Feb HT. Keeping everything crossed that we're able to goAIUI if it does, you won’t have to quarantine for 14d after arrival if you’ve been double jabbed.

BC has recently announced the requirement for covid passports at some events (including restaurants) from September and has reintroduced mandatory masks when indoors from today. It's not over yet.

Never done a solo ski trip. I'd definitely try and book into a chalet with a group.
I've been skiing solo for over ten years. I wouldn't entertain the idea of a chalet or group booking for a moment. It sounds awful.
However, this does of course mean you'll be reamed with a "single supplement" at many hotels, but that's a small price to pay not to have to share with a bunch of annoying strangers.
The money you save on paying for only one flight use towards a seat upgrade.
