What is basically being said is people still can't go abroad until every other country is vaccinated now. That is, even by the Government's standards, another huge goalpost movement.

Are people so stupid that they didn't see this coming?
Once all the noise started about Europe not having any vaccine is must have been obvious to all that foreign holidays this year were toast.
Anyway who wants to go to a resort where everything is shut because that country is locked down? Or come home and be sent to the nearest airport travelodge because covid has mutated again.
Sorry UK its another summer of going to Cornwall and abusing the locals this year.
There will be no normal holidays till everyone has had a shot

That is indeed what is being said now; i.e. the whole world has had a shot.

You do realise that people went abroad last year with none of those restrictions?

It’s likely the same will happen again this year to certain destinations this summer depending on infections.

Like last year I look forwards to seeing these apocalyptic predictions like yours being proven wrong.

That’s not what’s being said at all.

How are the goal posts being moved? The government has never said that holidays abroad are " 100% go". They have said that they will review and report, as will happen on April 12 (I think that's the date), and there's been plenty of unofficial noise about holidays abroad not being possible. Given what we have all heard this year particularly recently about some EU countries.... their poor jab take up, lock downs etc, and the often overlooked stringent restrictions in many countries (eg Greece) when you get there....I for one don't plan any bookings for the foreseeable future. I know some countries are encouraging visitors from mid May but what is actually happening in those countries does not look to support that idea. Maybe we will need an almost CV19 free year, whenever that will be who knows, before travel will be fully unrestricted again.

I want to go abroad as much as anyone...we cancelled 5 separate trips abroad last year...but not at the risk of CV19 being prevalent everywhere for a long time in the future.

What happened last year was that lots of infections were brought home. They won’t want to repeat that mistake with lots of new variants.

Im starting to look into getting married abroad (carribean) in early 2023. It would be a very small wedding so not concerned about the invited affording it. Im just worried that travel restrictions may still be in place. How quickly will long haul travel be allowed to resume?

Plenty of places in the Caribbean are getting needles into arms at a pace that should embarrass certain other parties, aided by having relatively small, concentrated populations.

I’d imagine Antigua and Barbados, for example, will be open for business by the middle of June.

Pondering a punt on Malta in the autumn, its on my list anyway and they're quite ahead of many others in jabbing people. The mrs is very ahem covid-secure though so if they open up but let anyone in will have trouble convincing her.

3 weeks in the US late July (abandoned from last year and moved a year forward so been in the calendar for a year) and Dubai in October. Fingers crossed at least 1 of those works....would prefer it to be the US one if only one of them as it’s been 2.5 years in the making (was supposed to be a post GCSE family fun time). If it gets canned this year I expect Campbell the younger will be off to Corfu or Ibiza with his mates next summer !

From memory the Caribbean insist on a blood test as part of your marriage licence? So guessing a COVID test easy to incorporate.
