The Summer 2021 thread is now complicated with PCR Test experiences.
We had a flight booked for July but I have just moved it to 2022.
So I would like to hear from members who have decided to throw in the towel and sit out 2021.

In 2020 we had two holidays August and December.
The August one was far better than December from a hysteria point of view.
Now in May 2021 the craziness is one hundred times worse than December.
Don't get me wrong I like a challenge and going the extra to achieve what I want but currently we just have stupidity all over the place. Also don't mention staycation - Have you seen the weather forecast.

So for 2021 I'm just going to do last minute things. Scorching hot day - jump in the car and hit the beach!

I have a canal boat booked in July sounds great, also Tenerife in October booked by my wife. I just can't see it happening and if we can go it will cost a fortune in tests. I told her not to book anything.

We were booked to go to Morocco in August, not been put on any of the lists, and they have extended their quarantine, so put it back to feb 2022 and changed to Cape Verde.

As a consolation, I have booked a 4 night P&o Staycation Cruise, around the Jurassic coast, £600 for 2 of us, and got an email off them to say they ar giving us £120 on board spending, so at least thats something to look forward to.

Had (or rather still have - albeit vouchers) P&O ferry tickets for France & BA flights to Italy - both now will be in 2022. Hoildays are supposed to be relaxing - and I can't be ar**d to arrange multiple tests, worry about travel insurance being valid and potentially wind up somewhere where bars and restaurants are closed or seriously restricted. Other travel threads full of angry pistonheads raging at the moon and explaining (very eloquently) why unlimited travel should be allowed rather than facing up to reality - it isn't and isn't likely to be for some time.

Have already had a fantastic week in the Lake District - and another booked in Snowdonia, No interest in being confined to some grim package holiday hotel and buffet meals - I want the freedom to get out and about. So I'll wait until next year. Besides, weather here is so grim right now - perhaps a great summer is on the cards!

I want to travel but there is no point, even within the UK, until we have a clearer picture of what is happening. Too many factors with covid or the govt could change at very short notice.

I'm keeping an eye on things but I don't reckon we'll be able to plan anything until at least July.

Better off saving money and staying in.

2 of us have hired a motor home and are going on a pub crawl around the U.K. We’ve found some nice pubs that can accommodate us with power and water, the deal is they let us stay, we eat and drink in their pub. If the weather’s nice we go for a walk, if it’s not we get the papers and sit in the pub all day. Sleep in the motor home at night and next day, go somewhere new.

Don’t understand why people are trying so hard to go abroad.

My wife and 3 of her friends have just booked to go to new Zealand next March for 3 weeks.

Her passport has run out.

Written this year off for going aboard, we had Santorini booked for July; booked last year, this has been moved to July 2022. I can't be bothered with the will we or won't we, maybe we should book something and see kind of thing, it is just easier to forget about it until next year.

Re-booking Santorini has cost us an extra £200, we could have waited to see what panned out but it just seems to be such a mess we decided to just cut our losses and move it, the uncertainty is the pain and we didn't want to end up with some stupid situation that perhaps Greece would allow us in but the UK wouldn't let us go or vice versa and we'd lose the holiday all together and our money, or we would have to quarantine on our return or we could go but had to wear masks everywhere in the heat.

We holidayed in Cornwall in April and are looking at somewhere in the UK for July, we both have a week or so left over, un-booked with work with the intention to see what's what towards the end of the year and if possible we may try and book a city weekend away somewhere in Europe, if not I'll just take the time off over Christmas at home.

Didn’t bother booking the annual budget ski holiday to Bulgaria for Feb 21 and went straight for the Feb 22 option instead. Spending the money we saved on further improvements to the patio areas including upgrading one set of furniture.
My normal long weekend away by myself in the sun has been canned for this year unless things calm down dramatically by early September. (Dreaming wistfully of a lazy morning sitting outside a coffee shop overlooking Mahón marina)

My wife sent her passport renewal off, as has heard rumours of 10 week delays.
It came back in less than a week smile

Just got back from one UK break that had been moved four times (Mar 20 > May 20 > Nov 20 > Mar 21 > May 21) and have got another couple of UK beaks booked for Sep 21 and Oct 21

Want to go to Spain and have a Euro road trip planned on paper but not booking anything until Dec/Jan when we see what things are looking like then. Don’t want to have to change bookings and hoping that rules around tests, masks, etc will have either gone or will at least be bedded in enough that everything is simple and clear.

Really don’t want to go somewhere hot and have to wear a mask...

(Don’t really want to wear a mask full stop but this isn’t the thread for that...)

I've totally abandoned any intention of leaving this island for a while. The uncertainty surrounding your reception both when you arrive there and upon returning here is too much hassle. I'd rather just sit it out here. It'll dry out here in a month and then I'll just try some bike-packing - hotels if they're open and have bike storage, or camping if not.

We are going to our villa in Portugal 2 weeks today.

Covid tests are a pain but they're easily sorted.

Need some sun badly.

I'm not bothering this year, we are normally feb, july and september, I may try and find something in the winter time but otherwise it will be feb next year when we go away.

I'm also looking at a cruise (been watching youtube vids) but may also buy a caravan like the rest of the uk.

To be fair to the UK, May can often be like April.
