OP, Looks like I saw Philps bakery on the quay in Hayle.

Hope you stopped for a pasty there.
I would (and should) have but i’d just had one from some chain bakers in the centre of Hayle. I should have waited.

19 miles today. Nice!

Quick question - are you using iPhone? Are all your photos taken in live mode on purpose?
Yes to iphone. Not intentionally - need to work out how to change the default smile
I like the live photos, they add a some life to the video. Really good luck with this, I'm very jealous!
(P.S. There's no 'u' in 'Camborne')
What a dope. I even took a photo of the town sign and didn’t notice.

Pasties.

Look for Malcolm Barnecutts, there’s one as you leave Camborne and get to Pool near South Crofty mine and more further up the county, as you get nearer England.
I’ll keep an eye out thanks.

It was freezing in the tent last night. Slept with all clothes on and long johns and still brass monkeys.

Did just over 16 miles today via Redruth and Threemilestones (i think that was the name). Felt very hilly.

Now at a campsite near St Allen which is to the west of Truro.

Phone service is not great so can’t upload todays vid so will do it tomorrow.

Im having problems uploading yesterday and todays videos.

Think i’ll need to do that only when I've got wifi.

Camped last night just outside a little placed called St Allen west of Truro and then today headed to just north of indian queens where I'm camping again.

Not having a lot of joy finding places to get dinner so having a lot of sandwiches. Hopefully bodmin tomorrow will be better.

In total I’ve done about 60 miles in the first four days. Today was less than 13 but I’m feeling it. The hills are getting harder.

Today had the first daytime rain but not too heavy and stopped while i pitched the tent.

Having little joy uploading the videos so hopefully these links will work. They show the last three days.

https://www.relive.cc/view/vNOPoY82V2v

https://www.relive.cc/view/vrqDAAdYrwv

Now done about 73 miles I think and am just outside Bodmin. Spent the last three nights camping and its been absolutely freezing. Bought a sleeping bag liner today so hope that will make a difference.

Days have been pretty perfect weatherise but first serious daytime rain expected tomorrow.

Body is generally holding out - feet fine, legs tired, and back a bit sore.

Big issue is food. None of the campsites are near a pub or restaurant. Tomorrow's route goes past nothing so i’m having to stock up on sandwiches which is not ideal. I envisaged enjoying a pub meal in the evening and that hasnt really happened yet.

Tonight and tomorrow camping and then a b&b on tuesday. Hope they have a bath and it will be great to be warm at night.

I did a job in St Ives last summer and it was a weekend of beautiful weather. Hot and blue skies.

So on a whim, when the job was finished I decided to stay on for a few days and bought a tent and camped with my decent sleeping bag and folding camp bed.

Went to bed when it got dark and awoke about 1am blooming freezing, even with clothes on, my down jacket and wooly hat.

I got up early the next day and moved on to a hotel. Hot shower, pub next door and cooked breakfast.

I feel for you fella.
Yes I’ve been sleeping with all clothes on plus down jacket and long johns. Still freezing. Hope the new sleeping bag liner works. If not then next option will be to buy a foam roll mat and use it under my inflatable mat. The inflatable mat is not stopping me feeling the cold ground beneath.

Is it worth posting the the regional forums asking for recommendations of places worth going to for hot meals, preferably with somewhere close by to spend the night?

Where will you be at around 10.30 tomorrow morning OP??
I’ll probably be somewhere between Liggars Farm where I’m camping (about 3 miles south west of Liskeard) and Liskeard. Google tells me theres a laundrette there so may see if can get some washing done if its quick. Tonight my first b&b in Callington and i cant wait to sleep indoors.

Yesterday was cr@p. It wasn’t that it rained all day, it wasn’t the hills, it wasn’t even the garbage food I had a Drago Mills outlet. I had a great off road route planned avoiding A roads and using all public footpaths.

They should take down all public footpath signs in Cornwall. Any that cross farm land or private land will have been blocked off by the landowner. Even if you've walked miles on the path and there is no alternative. They should have the decency to put up a sign saying “I've blocked this path a mile further on” to stop you committing to it. So for large chunks of the walk I was forced onto the A38. Think rain, lorries, spray and no verge.

Anyway enough moaning. Today was great. Apart from the fact that the sun returned, most walking was on quiet lanes and I had a b&b to look forward to. Now in Callington and I reckon I leave Cornwall tomorrow and enter Devon. Found a laundrette and all I need tomorrow is a barber that does shaves snd I’ll be almost presentable.

Had a short 10 mile day into okehampton along the granite way. Staying at a YHA as no camping available. Means a slightly longer day tomorrow.

Never been here before and I love it. Granite way is a great walk or cycle and the town has a good feel to it. Nicest I’ve been to so far on this trip.

Enjoying this at the Wetherspoons in the sun.

Got a camp site booked for tomorrow night then ther’re few and far between for the next few nights- sandford and bickleigh. So may need to find b&b or pub.

If anyones interested, here are details of what I’m carrying. I’ve since added walking poles, a woolly hat and a sleeping bag liner so rucksack weight comes in at just under 8kg.

I have a bum bag as well so I can go to the pub in the evening and take my important stuff with me.

Following along here as well.

Try Minnows just North of Bickleigh, 01884 821770
A relatively small site but as you're only a small tent I imagine they'd find room.
I’ve actually got the Minnows on my list as an option for the stop after Bickleigh and before Taunton. If its the same site then I think its in Samford Peverel?

Thanks, that's very interesting.

I'm shocked at the price of your little tent but then I guess you are paying for lightness and longevity.

It's about what I paid for a 8m monster with 4 separate bedrooms hehe
Where do you get the price from?
I paid £399. I have 3 other tents but ones a small Snugpak and is not much more than a bivvy. The other two are lightweight single skin tents. (Lansham 1& 2 pro) They’re great for a 3 or 4 day walk.

I figured I’d be spending some time in this and my criteria was- 2 man for the space to keep rucksack etc in and so I wouldn’t feel cramped. I wanted separate inner and outer to keep the condensation down. And I wanted it as near 1kg as I could get. I’ve only spent 6 or 7 nights in it so far and I’m really pleased with it.
