It's not fine, but at least we've just boarded. We arrived at 4.30am for a 7.40 flight. Still managed a bacon barm and a pint though.

Got to fly back via Jet2 from Tenerife on Tuesday.

Yesterday? Or next week? yikes

On the upside I assume you’re in a hotel somewhere that TUI are paying for, so free extra holidays?

My cancelled return TUI flight to Girona in early June has been refunded in full and allegedly a £200 voucher is on its way too.

I had a generic email off TUI’s MD explaining the reason behind the cancellation and an offer to make an compensation request under EU261

I’ve duly done that for both outbound and return flights. So potentially 2x 250 Euros.

This debacle must be costing the airlines affected a fortune?

At least the buffoons at MIA waived the excess fee.

Clearly signed? Yeah right.
They can't even sign Terminal 2 on any approaches from the East rolleyes

Just to follow this up, TUI have agreed £220 compensation on top of a refund and a voucher.

So for a £150 flight:

£150 refund
£220 EU261 comp
£200 voucher

Cynic in me says they’ll add £200 to any future flights / holidays, but even so, this must be costing them a fortune.

Wife flew from Manchester yesterday. She got there early (because of train times), 11.00 am for a 14.20 flight to Limoges.

She had fast track, but the fast track line was double the length of non fast track so she went through the normal channel. 15 mins to get through security.

The departure lounges were rammed though, huge queues for food and drink.

Her flight was delayed an hour, but not because of the airport, something to do with the incoming plane being late.

So not to bad at all. She only hand hand luggage though, and so no queuing for bag drop.

Got through security at LBA in 20 minutes yesterday, 15:50 arrival. Would have been quicker if they had more than one scanner on.

Then on the other side no food left, nowhere to sit and no AC, plus a delayed plane.

I’ve claimed a few times times and it could take months (TUI), days (Jet2) or weeks with some scheduled airlines even in the good old days. Never had the experience with Ryanair though.

Took a gamble and went for Manchester to go to work today. Ignored the ‘three hours’ advice and turned up about 1.45 before departure. 10 mins check in, 20 mins security.

BUT……..what a miserable experience. It’s obvious they’re clearly scraping the barrel for quality in the current recruitment drive; I guess a few years back these people would be unemployable!

The departure lounge is utterly filthy. Not a cleaner in sight and absolutely disgusting.

And the Escape lounge was completely empty - but ‘fully booked’ so no access for me.

I just really, really hate everything and everyone at Manchester airport. They couldn’t make travel more miserable if they tried.

I’ve tried to book into the ‘Escape’ lounge before a flight next month, it’s saying it’s fully booked. I suspect they have no staff to open it.

I reckon they're just doing it for sts and giggles now, just seeing how much they can charge and how awful that they can make the entire experience and yet still people will travel from the sthole.

Annoyingly I work in Gibraltar and (over summer) it has a daily flight. Why oh why can't it be from Liverpool.

I take it you’ve not tried Leeds Bradford then? Manchester is like a palace (shopping and catering) compared to LBA.

Very true indeed!

Despite being an hour away from MAN compared to 40 mins from LBA, will choose MAN and that is saying something!
