Renewed one. Took about 7 days. Did it all online. Piece of cake.
Great service. I suspect people are sending in paper forms, providing wrong info and so on: hence loads of delays. I certainly know dealing with the public each day: most of them can’t tie their shoe laces without assistance, let alone fill out forms that need to be accurate

Every time I nip to the pub after work I get asked if I have my computer, several passports and driving licences processed for the regulars, a large majority of the general public have no chance in the digital age.

Sounds like you should be getting some beer money for this service. Every time I nip to the pub after work I get asked if I have my computer, several passports and driving licences processed for the regulars, a large majority of the general public have no chance in the digital age.

Just for comparison, and credit where credit due, just go my passport back.
Old one sent off on 9th May so 14 days door to door. Have to say can’t complain with that. Done using their on line method, with daughter taking photos with the iPad until we got the green tick of approval.
Done a bit early as didn’t run out until Apr next year but was in danger of falling foul of the issue date plus 10 years bit, which appears to be a bit of an unknown quantity for some places.
Tbh, surprised at how efficient it all was, and I feel a bit guilty about that!

Did my online application on 20th May which was a Friday evening and sent the old one in early the following week. Just got a text today to say the application is ‘approved’.
I had one day between “approved” and “printed” and then a further 4 days (including a weekend) before delivery so you are almost there. We got a call yesterday to say we can collect our son's passport from Liverpool. Told we had an appointment at 12, no need to queue, just collect it.
We've currently been stood outside in the queue for 30mins with all the other people who were given appointments at 12 and told they didn't need to queue...

2 of our 3 renewals took 3 weeks, the last one took 10 weeks - the limit they're allowed apparently. Seemingly just lost in the system.
I phoned (pretty much 2 hours exactly to get through), nice girl who politely said "it is what it is" kind of thing. Explained Mrs 22 is poorly and we're desperate to take any opportunity to get away. Put on hold, then back "OK, we'll sort it". Text arrived shortly after to say had all the documents they needed, passport printed and arrived within a few days.
