Do you have to scan your passport as part of the ESTA application now then?
The ESTA website give you the option to upload a photo of the biometric page, or scan it using the camera on your laptop/device. Howe er it didn't like my Safari browser on my MacBook and wouldn't let me do it, so had to use a Windows laptop instead.

It was the adding of each person in our family group that was initially confusing, having to add them individually as a 'New Application' which I thought meant create a whole new application right from the beginning again, but it didn't. Once everyone has been added you go to the payment page and we received an 'authorised' email within the hour.

Once authorised is there anything that needs printing off to take with you, or is it all linked to your passport?

Nothing to print. I’d make a note of the reference number
Tat's true for flying to the US, but back in February we were asked for our ESTAs (and they were checked carefully
against our passports) when boarding a Royal Caribbean cruise in Miami, so it's always best to have a hard copy
to cover all eventualities!

Thanks for pointing that out. We’re joining an MSC cruise at Miami next year and it would not have occurred to me to have a printed ESTA.
