I have a long journey through France planned in about 3 weeks and want to make it as seamless as possible. I started looking into the toll tags to get through the peage's as quickly as possible but all seem to come with an annual fee. Does anyone know of one that can be used as a one off? Or is it worth just paying by card everytime I go through one?

In the grand scheme of things given the amount of fuel your going to use, the annual fee of £6 ish IIRC vs the convenience gained is totally worth it.

Get it bought smile

Its well worth the investment, in the holiday season for the queue jumping ability alone.

They also work in lots of car parks

Another vote for the tag here.

We were one of the first non French to have one. The number of times the locals avoided following us into the toll only lane (expecting the Brit reverse) was comical!

As said, the annual fee is peanuts compared to the toll charges & the cost of fuel!

They don't all have an annual fee.

I got mine from APRR and it was something like £15 up front., then costs 1EUR for every month that it is actually used.

I failed at the first hurdle in 2019. Our tag was ageing so we took the precaution of getting a newun.

I chucked the tag in the car without the packaging or really even looking at it.

The clip was different! I got a proper rollicking, but tape came to the rescue! hehe

Not sure whether they take UK bank accounts these days, but mine is registered to my UK credit card.

We have had one for a number of years now , it is great when towing a caravan to be able to sail through toll plazas at 30 kph without stopping and having to play with ticket machine from wrong side of car
There is a slight down side ,the one I have has an annual charge ,plus a small monthly charge for the month or months it is used ,there is also a small fee for exchange when battery dies ,you get plenty of notice when battery is getting low .All in all wouldn't do without it .
One thing i find curious, how does the system know I am a class 2 ,cameras , sensors in road ? Hummm

Same here.

Typically driving in France every couple of months with a daughter at Uni there. Time saved queueing - great!

If you want a temporary one.

Tolltickets.com

Pick up from Folkestone services on the way out, or they will post to you.

Saves me lots of time.. lots..

Thanks for the replies all, some good options there. Will get something ordered this week. Driving from calais to the alps I imagine this could save a decent amount of time

Annoyingly I’ve got one, but forgot it for this summers trip.

Now the tolls take contactless it’s less of an issue - until I had to take a solo journey to Toulouse airport to pick a family member up banghead

It's actually a lads trip down to the alps, should be much less drama than the family trips I've done through France!
It's been a few years since I've driven through France, what's the concensus on speed limits and how much over can you get away with?

We’ve just arrived in the French Alps and have used our Bip and Go tag, bloody brilliant, absolute doddle going through the tolls, worth every penny.

Last time was an absolute fiasco, gates that wouldn’t accept our debit card, another Mrs Gunk dropped cash and it all fell under the car. This year was seamlesse

What’s the actual destination?

Lads trip!! (Sounds great)..

Don’t get caught 51kph over the speed limit on the peage..
