Certainly lots of LBGTQ and Naturists in beach of the English but beach is fine and hotel is actually 5 star which is unexpected. I’am now starting to treat it as if I’am an extra in ‘Benidorm’ rofl
Don't forget a round of mini golf at the Yumbo centre, you can watch yourself on youtube too.

February in the Canaries is great if you live in the Canaries or, spend 3 months a year there and just hop over for a couple of weeks.

TBF the weather in U.K can be dreadful in Feb.

If you only get 4 weeks off a year though, its too much of a gamble to take that does not usually pay off.

Anyway, looking forward to bar-flying around here again soon to watch the surf.

I live in Spain, so the temps in GC are not much higher in the day. I'm still wearing a ski jacket in the daytime biggrin.
Might take a pair of shorts next week, just incase they have a heatwave.

I live in the Highlands of Scotland and I don’t even ware a ski jacket to go skiing but found it a bit coolish on the rooftop bars! wink

Is there any part of FV to avoid?

Not really. Some of the back streets in Puerto del Rosario are a bit rough and I'd think twice before leaving a car in them but tourists don't tend to go there.

For the last 12 years we've stayed in a friends villa in Lajares as noisy resorts and all night parties in the next hotel room aren't for us but there's nowhere really grim anywhere on the island. The weather can be slightly better in the north as that gets the benefit of shelter from the NE trade winds and relief rainfall on the Papagayo mountains on Lanzarote.

I like FV way more than the other Canaries as there's a far lower population density alongside a more laid back vibe and the beaches are stunning. It's a lot less popular with beer and chips in the sunshine Brits and Irish than the other Canaries too which is a bonus. Inland can be a little samey as there's not the lush vegetation you get in Gran Canaria or Lanzarote but some of the mountain roads and views more than make up for that.

In FV now, weather has been a bit up and down. The weather apps haven’t a clue what’s going on. When the suns out it’s lovely and warm around 19/20c. Raining at the mo and was meant to be -5% chance but will probably stop in 10 and sun will be back out

Still had a great time at the beach, lovely restaurants and some off roading 4x4

Beats being at home ! Ha

Taken just now…..

Looking at possibly the Canaries beginning of August.
4 adults, 2 kids under 6.

Any recommendations?
Looking at all inclusive around the £3-3.5K mark.

I remember Siam park in Tenerife being good for kids.
I’ve only ever been to Playa Though when younger so I’m looking for other resorts as don’t fancy listening to the youngsters having fun….it will make me jealous I’m old haha

Did look at Ibiza also.

If you want a resort the Parque Santiago 3 is front line at Playa de Las Americas right by the man made beach. The resort is actually quite quiet (away from the noise of the bars)

It has a good kids pool as well as decent full size pools.

With that many people though I would rent a villa away from Playa and rent a car.

Take a deep breath as its going to be a record month in August for the Canaries for tourists.

I think you might have left it too late with that kind of budget for known 4 star hotel for this August you'll need 7k-10k and you will need to take what you can get.

For that money, you can get into either a 3 star hotel all inclusive in Gran Canaria or, two, one bed apartments, bed and breakfast only in South Tenerife.

On my booking.com genius account the all-inclusive Mirador Maspalomas by Dunas is showing as one of the best deals at 4,100gbp.

The problems with Gran Canaria in August a) the price and availability of flights its not as good as Tenerife so, check the flight prices first b) I personally, don't think its a good place for the kids unless you are at the Rui or the Radisson c) Puerto Rico is like an oven in August and its no fun for the kids at all.

The answer to it all is to bunk the kids off in June or, September.

Thanks for the advice all

Just seen the suggested first Hotel for Aug - £7k so that’s a no no as you said budget isn’t great

Second piece of advice to bunk off, we can’t as my partner can’t get any time off other than first 2 weeks in Aug as everyone else booked their holiday in first.

Any other suggestions for places within our budget for mid to late 20 degrees as we’re not massive fans of extreme heat or 30s just warm would be enough with the kids entertained especially in the evening some kids clubs/shows.

The answer is to book a flight, an apartment and a hire car, somewhere in Spain, with a pool, like Ronda, Peniscola, Calpe, Moraira.
