Booked Ibiza in the end in San Antonio. Week before the opening parties by all accounts so as an oldish f@rt but young at heart. I think/hope we have the balance right.
I won’t state the hotel just incase some on here have a bad opinion.

Now any suggestions on good pubs that aren’t expensive? Only see Flaherty’s so far about £4.30 a pint which being an S/E bod is the usual

Just did a quick look.

Flights for a family of 4 this easter, flying return from Manchester to Tenerife, standard economy seats, 2,500 pounds. Just for the flights.
The capitulation from the airlines came really late this year. I managed to get return flights for 1,650 GBP for 4, with extra legroom seats both ways, one hold luggage case each. There are tickets available for 100EUR each way, without luggage but these are scattered around.

I managed to get a well-known 4 star apart-hotel for 65 Eur a night, manager said they had done well this summer but flight costs and hotels advertising crazy prices in the January sales season had put people off this year and many families ended up in Turkey instead.

General updates: Uber has soft-launched in Tenerife, certain areas only, very limited, hard-launch coming in 2024. The CEO of Canarias Prime getting done on drugs charges was massive news there (apparently). Heat wave has come and gone. Siam Park has put up prices again, especially the VIP tickets. You can now fly direct from Gran Canaria to Ibiza and Majorca.

We’ve booked the Rui Paraiso in Lanzarote for a week in November and the Rui Buenavista in Tenerife for a week in Jan both about £650 pp.

That’s with Tui from East Mids.

I'm looking in the canaries for All Inclusive in October half term (which is pretty much the first week of November). Just somewhere to fly and flop with good food and decent heated pools.

We are off to Fuertaventura tomorrow. Ryanair flights, but staying in the Sheraton which looks really nice.

My wife and I have been to the Canaries several times, but not with the kids - in fact this is the first time we've taken them on a hotel holiday, we've previously always gone self-catering, usually to France by car and staying in a gite or similar. So quite a different style of holiday for them.

make sure you take factor 50 sun tan protection as the UV is extreme.

We took ours to Turkey last October for their pool/hotel hol last year as we usually go caravanning in the UK or Europe. Currently in Germany after moving from France this morning. The autumn half term is a great opportunity to get enough warmth without it being too hot and it gives you something to look forward to later in the year.

Hope you and the family have a great holiday.

We're off to Bahiazul Villas near Corallejo in November. We went there for the first time in April and enjoyed it so much we booked again.

Probably not for everyone but the villas are very high standard and we had a private pool which was great.

Got back a few weeks ago from a week in Lanzarote, we stayed all inclusive at the Iberostar Star Prestige and it was very nice indeed. The hotel is split into sections, and we were staying at the adults only section. The adults only section has it's own pool, jacuzzi, bar and dining areas although you are more than welcome to go to the family section as well. Just walking through the family section was bad enough so we never spent any time there at all.

Food was in my opinion great and I loved the fact there was a chef in the restaurant who would cook steak, seafood, chicken etc. to order.

Service was excellent, table service for all drinks or you could just go to the bar.

I would 100% recommend it, just be warned it is pretty windy and you will soon be searching to buy the big pegs to hold your towel to the lounger. There were also plenty of loungers which didn't appear to be the case in the family section as they were all reserved by 8am.

We go to Gran Canaria this saturday for 10 days staying at Abora Catarina in Maspalomas.

Any recommendations apart from the obvious Aqualand.

2 Kids 5 and 7.

Looking forward to it as the weather doesnt seem too hot and all inclusive takes the hassle out of it all with kids.

Anyone stayed at that Hotel?

The dunes are spectacular. Well worth a visit, but watch out for nudists!

Going to Tenerife in a week or so AI with Tui. I'd love to go up Mount Teide, but the excursions that Tui offer only appear to do a driving tour. There appears to be a cable car that goes up most of the way, but it says you need a permit of some description. Also is the altitude OK for an 8 year old?
Apologies, for all the questions that most probably have obvious answers.

The best way to see it is by car. Plenty of car parking and a stunning drive. Then head down to santa cruz for dinner which has a completely different feel to the other side of the island....in a good way.

You don't need a permit for the cable car, just the crater walk but the cable car is fine and will give you the experience and views, but does need booked a bit in advance and is prone to being off in wind. They will let you rebook or refund.

No issues with altitude, we were up with our 6 year old this year and it wasn't her first time.

An 8 year old should be fine. You just feel a bit breathless if you exert yourself.

Driving up is fine there is a decent car park. Get a good car if you can though. We could only get a small car with a tiny engine and it was struggling with the altitude. We were holding some cars up so had to pull over and let them past!

There is a stopping area before you get to the cable car. Make sure you stop there and take a look.

The landscape is amazing. Like being on the moon.

a bloke asked me a similar question on the plane recently and I said 'teide at night'. depends on the kids disposition i.e. are they interested in the stars.

Have a drive up to the north of the island, market in the north (on Saturdays?) is good, and the Cezar museum is nice as well.
