I think it is worth noting, that the process of getting a sticker was very painless and only took a few weeks to come through and only cost a few EUR.
Yes, allow plenty of time for the sticker to come through (which I didn't). We fretted a bit last year, in case a gendarme took exception to the letter instead of the sticker, during rush hour round Grenoble. A worry we didn't need.Den Den said:
This is the first year that these restrictions have been in place Adam, so it'll be interesting to see how it works out. I'll be travelling down in Ye Olde Euro 4 Camping Car with a couple of mates, and have no desire to give French plod any opportunity to rifle through my wallet.
We'll be going either East of Rouen and over the Seine at Pont de l'Arche or West through Yvetot and over the Pont de Brotonne, both much nicer routes than the centre of town.
They were in place last year as remember seeing all the signs. Also drove through somewhere else last year on a euro trip (want to say Strasbourg?) was nearish to the Swiss border. We'll be going either East of Rouen and over the Seine at Pont de l'Arche or West through Yvetot and over the Pont de Brotonne, both much nicer routes than the centre of town.
Have been pulled over by the French police before but that was driving round a roundabout and they cut straight across in front of me. Stupid French rule.
Also had a speeding fine for doing the equivalent of 41 in a 40 but that was in a rental car, where the rental car company kindly charged 25 euros for the privilege of handing over my details.
