Eurotunnel Day Trip tickets back

The £110 return figure they like to suggest exists doesn’t for decent times, £125 is what it really is.On top of that they now hold you to your train time on your return leg, even though they will be allowed to change the time they run it even if you can’t change the time you arrive for it.
The only reason Eurotunnel can get away with doing business this way is they have no competition, just ferrys.
Eurotunnel also did day returns for a period last November, at £30 each way. We used that for some Christmas shopping. The trains were still fairly empty midweek
I’m travelling back today Flexi (as wasn’t sure of day/time of return). Probably also pretty much empty as it was last Wednesday
I’ve done a crossing early this year with three cars on a train, of which two were French Customs vehicles
Le Shuttle (as it’s now branded) do seem to have lost the plot in terms of their consumer proposition

That’s a very good deal. Can’t see it coming back any time soon.gtidriver said:
Even Flexi Plus is a con, it's only for the day of travel that you booked, it used to be an open-ended ticket. They will charge you to park in the car park next, or to use the toilets
That's not entirely correct. The Flexi-Plus ticket can be amended for free to change the date of travel. However they have two sets of dates, off-peak and peak, where peak are mainly school holidays. If you book a ticket during off-peak and try to amend to peak then they charge you, but if your date move is still in off-peak or started in peak, then there's no charge. It's a simple way to stop people booking a cheaper Flexi fare in the middle of February and then re-booking the dates to an August Saturday.
The dates are here:

I've used Flexi loads and really like the service as it generally cuts all the queues and delays (hugely at the busiest times) and especially on the way back if it's a long journey I'm never going to know the arrival time. By not buying food/drink both ways, for a family of four that's over £100 saved, which I mentally knock off the price.
That said they have ramped all the prices up noticeably.
An occasional ferry can be fun though and it's great to smell the sea, see the cliffs and have a good breakfast on board, but it's far far slower.

Just did a quick fare check on ET travelling from France to UK, return same day….very early a.m., return early evening = €198
I think it is safe to say Eurotunnel are no longer in the day trip business, they are leaving it to the ferries. But if you insist we will take your money …….
Have to say we have used Eurotunnel many times without any issues even though we live in the North East of England which is a fair old drive.
We use it for the convenience of drive on/drive off - never even looked at ferry crossings across the Channel although in the distant past we have used the hovercraft.
We always try to travel down early on a Sunday leaving around 03:30 but travelling back oop North even on a Sunday is a slow boat to China.
So next year we are using Eurotunnel for our outbound journey then returning via the DFDS Amsterdam to Newcastle ferry - if you think Eurotunnel is expensive take a look at DFDS and their crazy “live pricing” - a return crossing was working out around £800 with meals (don’t believe their 20% saving offers either - they’re a con only applying to the outbound part and excluding meals). Every time we checked the pricing, it gave a different answer! Prices for this crossing have gone through the roof - we only paid around £450 return last year and that included meals.
At least Eurotunnel seem to have fairly steady pricing - currently £125 Folkestone to Calais for next July.
