Used to do £100 return tickets etc or £10 for the day as did it loads.
You did better than I ever have, the best I managed was the £25 day trips they did from time to time.

I remember paying £9.50 return back in the day...
£60-day trip tickets are back, well sort of, out latest 5.18 am departure, return 22.18. Quite annoying really.
I need to travel via Lesttole in a couple of weeks' time, leaving at 9ish am and returning at 22.30ish the same day, I called up to book and was told I couldn't book Flexi plus(I'm not paying but was told I could book it) only on the way out as the terminal is closed on the way back, so a £150 extra spend for nothing, the person on the phone wouldn't take my booking. I'm trying to give this stty company more money but they won't accept it.

Oh, the free case of wine offer on P@O ferries is redeemed at Calais Wines not on board. For those that haven't been, they have a free tasting room, sometimes with some nice breads and cheeses as well.

Oh and another thing, Majestic Wines which used to be next door is now a massive soup kitchen for migrants. If going to Calais Wines leave nothing on show in the car.

I was there a couple of weeks ago, Calais Wines had two staff out in the car park permanently just to keep the pond life out of their car park.

Nothing wrong with the ferry trip, happy to do that again.

You have to collect the free wine from down the road from the port, where you collect it from I would describe as unsafe.

The pond life hanging around (dozens of migrants) are bordering on intimidating.

I wasn't planning to take advantage of the free wine, but thanks for the warning!

Me neither.

It is one thing seeing it on the news, it is quite another driving through it.

I've never taken the Eurotunnel with a car, the cost has always put me off whenever I've looked.

I prefer the ferry anyway. Yes it's slower but seems more of an occasion, seeing the white cliffs slowly recede smile

My brother lived near the UK end and did use the cheap pop over in the afternoon option when it existed. Do a shop, fill up with booze and a nice meal nearby or in Calais.

Think it was only £25.
I rarely use the tunnel. For people in the south east the crossing time might be a consideration, but if like me you have spent 5-10 hours battling down from Lancashire then an extra hour on the boat is totally insignificant.

And I agree - the boat is more fun.

Sorry, this isn't a Eurotunnel question, but we've discussed the track width in their carriages at some length - what are the P&O ferry ramps like for loading sports cars with low clearance?

Boxster/TVRs ok, something with a low front spoiler might need a diagonal approach.

We find after 4 hours down to dover, that a hour and a half on the boat is an ideal break before heading down further into france.

Thanks. I recall going through Calais to Paris in 2010, had a great time.

Dunno why but this only seems to be an issue at Calais. We quite often do the Dover Dunkirk (DFDS) crossing and have never seen anyone hanging around.

I asked in the wine store and they said there is a place locally that gives them free food so they come from miles.

I am not talking about just a few people, dozens of blokes 20/30 years old, all fleeing persecution.

If you think that is bad you should see the area near the port of Caen, even worse.
