Oh, just one more thought - a salt beef bagel from the 24hr place at the top of Brick Lane is never a bad choice. Nowhere to sit if that bothers you but utterly delicious.
There's Beigel Bake and the Beigel Shop a few doors down - you're not a Londoner unless you have firm views on which is better! biggrin

V true, I did say the one at the top but they are both quite close so I could have been more specific. The Beigel Bake is the one to go for, white sign with blue and red script. Looks scruffier than the other one but the bagels are the best in town;)

Sorry most of my tourism revolves around pub crawls! hehe
Near there is the Duke of Wellington and they have a great selection of lagers if thats your thing
12 Toynbee St, London E1 7NE

In the interests of selfless research I went and checked this one out today for a single lunchtime half-pint soda and lime*. I can confirm it has a large selection of craft beer and lager and a friendly atmosphere.

* hehe

Camden Market will be open.
Spitalfields, but I do still enjoy Borough Market. I’d avoid Camden Market as it’s way overrated these days IMO. Plus, it means going near Camden Town which is a grimy, tacky dump. wink

I think you've got all the best spots now. All I can add is another 'Don't go to Borough Market' voice. Overpriced, v busy and mostly about posh cheese and single origin olive oil at 30quid a bottle than street food.

I was in London for the first time in years and happened upon the Brick Lane Beigel shop. I think I surprised the staff when i said i had never had a beigel and asked what they recommended. I can subsequently recommend the Salt Beef with gherkin and mustard!

I'll be honest I thought the same until I went last year, there's been loads of development around the lock and there's several food centric little markets/stalls etc in a few places now. I was impressed by how nice it is.

Still Camden at the end of the day so yes, the same slightly strange clientele on the high street but much improved.

Arrived in London this afternoon. Towed my caravan from South Yorkshire to a site near Leighton Buzzard train station, pitched up and caught the train to Euston, 30 min journey.

Didn’t get into Euston till 3pm so by the time I got to leather lane the market had closed. So I’m turning today into a short pub crawl of old pubs and will do the food places tomorrow.

First stop was Ye Olde Mitre in Hatton Gardens

If you'd like a very good breakfast tomorrow morning: https://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/e-pelli...

There's usually a queue though

And finally some food. Someone on here once recommended Shawarma Bros on Waterloo Rd by the station. Had a lovely kebab for £8

I’ve been keeping note of pubs in London that I’d like to visit so managed to tick a few off. I’ll check out that breakfast recommendation above for tomorrow and browse Camden Market and Spitalfields. Thanks here’s a few landmarks I want to see including St Bartholomews Gate House and I believe there’s a bit of London Wall remaining near Tower Hill. I’ll eat my way there smile

That's one of my favourite pubs in London.

Yes there is a bit of the original wall still around Tower Hill, this is a picture I took this year. London Wall, Tower of London and Tower Bridge in one shot.

There is a cafe within spitting distance https://kubiti.blog/devine/

Great photo pal.

The last pub I went to was the Ship & Shovel. Cracking pub, and it’s actually two pubs opposite each other.
