There's a plan....wonder if they do one way drivingwink
Thrown a bit of a curved ball last night that Uber isn't available in the area, but the rental of the default setting little Italian urban city car is anywhere between £40-£140 for the day depending of who rents it for a comparable service, every firm has bad reviews, but then the angry always shout louder, just going to see who's got an EV and try and abide by all their rules. rotate
My rentals cost about €150 for both.
However, it was only 20 minutes in each.

Still, no speed limits were observed. Got them both well above 200kph a couple of times… not quite sure what the speed limit actually was as the signs were a blur and they kept saying go go go!!!!

My excess policy via worldwideinsure cost (iirc) €110 per year. I had to claim once, was straight forward and low hassle. Their website is tragic but the product is good.
I pay around £50 through Questor
Good to know for renewal, thanks. I went with worldwide as they accept foreign licences.

You can abide by all the rules but there’s a reason that so many cars in Italy look like they have been banger racing. Italian drivers drive and park like twunts. If you need to park a car in public, chances are it will be dinged.
As always on the internet, experiences will differ. I’ve never picked up a ding in Italy, be it a rental or one of my own cars.

Likewise - and I lived there. What they DO do is drive 1 inch behind you. Not out of agression just, because they do, and, certainly when I lived there around 11 years ago, at night , you could guarantee that a lot of drivers were pissed. They've clamped down a lot since I left (not connected!) and a lot of the guys in my village lost their licences.

I have a house there and spend around six months of every year there. I’ve given up taking nice cars there because they will get dinged. But, as others say, YMMV.

Well I'll only be using the car from 9-5 so unless they start on the Limoncello early I should be ok, and hopefully the supercar factory carparks should be safe enough, Enzo@Modena looks ok, I remember the car park at Maranello being massive and I can't imagine Pagani being a problem. rotate

The two Ferrari museum car parks tend to be quite busy btw.

Bumpers are for bumping there for sure. Last hire I had looked like it would have a glazed look and stories to tell like a haggard Vietnam veteran if it were human. I added to its woes by forgetting the handbrake and unusually for me not putting it in gear, as I exited I had the joy of watching it roll into a garage wall, bloody Italians not using spirit levels when laying concrete…

Ok, so after putting this on the back burner for a few weeks due to other holidays/stuff it now needs sorting, my only question is have people had any issues returning the car after the office is closed?
The websites seem to allow this but do you then face 'issues'? scratchchin

Ive few good experiences with Italian car hire firms from Avis all the way down to local shops. Use a reputable firm so at least you have some comeback, and ideally hire from a major centre where they have a high turnover of cars. Photograph everything, keep all receipts and so on. I've never had anything major but more often than not they will try to get you for fuel or some other phantom fee.

If you're going to be doing out of office drop off all the above applies even moreso.

Not really got a great deal of choice on where I get it from, it's going to be Bologna Train Station, or at least somewhere in central Bologna. rotate

There are 10 rental agencies within spitting distance of bologna station according to google. How much choice do you need?
