Planning on going to the Brecon Beacons for this Bank Holiday weekend. How busy do we reckon it will be? Current plan is Friday do the short(ish) Pen y Fan and Corn Du circular walk, but we're not going to get there till lunchtime. I think any parking will be non-existent, others aren't so sure. Forecast is rain showers so that might put some off.

Pont ar Daf and Storey Arms car parks are bound to be busy anyway, but does anyone know if Nant Cwm Llwch is going to be any better? Or any other recommendations gratefully received.

Saturday and Sunday we'll get dropped off so that's less of an issue.

Can't help I'm afraid but there's a fairly active facebook group called "Walking the Brecon Beacons" which is pretty useful for this type of question.

There are several lay-bys on he A470 around Storey Arms. There's a big one around just around the cover to the north. It will be a gamble at that time of course and you may need to drive around to find space. Many people will park on the verge if the lay-bys and carpark are full. If you want to do the horseshoe route (or a variant of it) then there are other places to park. Brecon Beacons parking is nowhere near as difficult as Lake District parking at peak times!

In the spirit of closing threads, we ended up parking at Taf Fechan forest car park. It was small, empty and pissing down.

Saturday we parked on the road in Llanbedr. Bloody long day that was!

Great feedback, thanks. I have seen the verges of the A470 overflowing with cars on a nice weekend.
