Another vote for the Imperial War Museum, it's awesome.
I also recommend the river boat service for getting about - much more fun than the tube.

May I suggest that you start at Dirty Dicks at Liverpool Street the very home of the PH monthly.

From there you can then move down into Shoreditch and take in the delights of the Sports Bar, The Axe and Browns!
