I am, with a bit of luck, going to be heading off the the Alps to spend the forthcoming season working in the Val D'Isere or Courchevel.

I am not going to be a chalet bh for the season so no worrying about cakes that won't rise or having to clean toilets.

Any tips from people who have done this before? Best ways to make the meagre wages last a week? Best ways to blag beer and wine to stretch the budget? Best lines to feed the chalet girls?

Thanks in advance!

What do you want to do?

Airport transfers driver.
Handyman.
Chalet assistant.
Bar staff.
Any of the usual jobs in hotels.
Resort assistant.
Administration.
Ski guides and instructors need the right qualifications and tons of experience and the French can do their usual trick of changing the rules as they go along in order to protect their own interests.

You can get a job doing pretty much anything and everything.

Some people say go for a hotel based role as you will know your shifts in advance and can plan your ski-ing / boarding accordingly.

Check out natives.co.uk for ideas and vacancies. Or spend 30 minutes on Google and e-mail a few companies directly.

I'm actually contemplating doing this if I don't pass my OASC in a couple of weeks. Leaving it quite late, but if i don't get through for any reason then I just fancy heading out to La Plagne or Switzerland and working for a season. Mainly just for 4 months of boarding earning crap money and making new friends.

I'll have to see how things go and what happens, but i've been considering doing this for a couple of years now. I hope you have great fun and if things don't go to plan for me, I may end up doing the same!
