I'm at Uni in Bristol and my boyfriend is coming down for the weekend, we're looking for something to do on Saturday.

We have already done most things in Bristol having been here 8 months, and visited Bath and Weston Supermare, so looking for something new! Any suggestions for nice towns to visit with interesting things to do or see, or certain specific attractions that are in the area? (lets say within 45 mins or 1 hour max. on the train from Bristol)

Any car journeys that can be avoided would be good, as the car is in the NCP in central Brizzle over the weekend and moving it for a number of hours seems to rack up the price smile

Thanks!

ETA: if the fun suggestions are running dry, my boyfriend is into his walking, but I'm not spending my birthday weekend being dragged up any epic cliffs or mountains, I get enough of that at home! so any nice trails or scenic country walks would also be considered.

Shame about the car-limitation as Cheddar Gorge can be a fun drive and walk.

You could go and see the SS Great Britain. The way they've got it displayed looks really nice (it's "floating" on a glass sea, so you can walk underneath it).

take a train to Cardiff- its a great city- and its even better now they've spent absolutely millions on it. Head to the bay and take lunch over the waterfront and even have afternoon tea at the St Davids Hotel.

Wells is nice (have you seen Hot Fuzz?)

Wye Valley / Forest of Dean is less than an hour away in the car, try Symonds Yat area for nice walks

Can't help with the train stuff, sorry
