I'm starting to think about my stag do. I don't want typical chavvery and wouldn't mind a city break abroad.

Although Prague is amazing, I don't want to go for my stag. Amsterdam is a big no no also, too cliched.

Germany appeals on many levels, beer, food, bar culture etc, maybe a mini 'fest of some type.

Do you have suggestions?  Thinking end march early April

some friends of mine went on stag in hamburg. I missed it, but went on holiday with the same bunch to berlin a few months previous.

the report back was that whilst it was a good stag, berlin was the preferred trip. I had a great time there, never venturing far from the old russian sector and not getting to bed until midday most of the time. the nightlife there is simply outstanding.

agree with Shirt. Another vote for Berlin.

There is always Loads going on, things to suit all tastes, great transport links, and I'm sure you can a find a Festival or holiday to tag along with. I think it's the place I would choose for a stag that's not predominatley a 'euro-pissup'

Berlin yes Its quite simply an amazing city. Great nightlife, great setting, got a communist vs. Western feeling going on. Loved my time there.

We went to Frankfurt last year for a stag do because of Ryanair - 12 of us managed to get flights to Hahn for £80 all in!!

We only went because of the cost of the flights - as a location, it was excellent, the locals really got into the spirit of having a stag, and the student nightlife area was great.

Frankfurt had a weekend of markets and events in the town center so was really lively. Apparently it is like this every weekend in the summer.

the clubs were good, the beer was great and the best bit of all was the beer bike

would definitely recommend if there is a group of you

Having been to most of the bigger German cities I would say Berlin is your best bet. It's a really interesting place and there's a huge choice of different drinking and entertainment options.

I'm sure when I was there last I read somthing about a company that specialised in 'kidnapping' the stag in a Stazi style hoist.. Not so sure that's in best possible taste, but it's a bit different to the usual 'stripper police woman'.

I saw this in Berlin last month:

It's basically a bicycle powered bar so that you can drink and pedal your way round the city, what's not to like about that?

They seem to be in most German & Dutch Cities and the larger towns, and very manoeverable until the guy who is steering has had too many, they all seem to have music as well onboard.

Cologne is brilliant. Very relaxed during the day for casual beers in the sun. Has some very good bars and clubs for the evenings entertainment.

I did Brugge on my stag do as I wanted the same (Avoid the usual chavvy places) and it was stunning.

Cracking beer, great night life.

Went to Brugges on the same trip that included Colonge. Loved the place, excellent beers and some good bars. Bloody expensive though!

I'm organising a stag weekend in Bruges for a group of up to 20 this July and would be really keen to here how you guys got on. Although it's always struck me as a rather quaint little place I was there this weekend doing a bit of a recce and noticed a beer bike parked up like the ones shown above - does this mean it's catching on as a popular stag destination?
