My mother is travelling to Port Elizabeth in South Africa for an extended family visit.
At home she spends quite a bit of time on the internet.
So, would a mobile broadband laptop from this country work there, without incurring huge charges, or might there be the facility to lease one from there.

I used my mum's internet for a month when I was over there and it cost about £800!

The internet costs are mental.

Was it dial up, broadband or mobile?

+1

Was on 3G as it's just about the only "broadband" available.

Thanks.
Think I'll put her off the idea.

I used my laptop in a web cafe out there and I really don't remember the cost being that bad. Can't actually remember what it was but I know I would have remembered if it was some of the numbers talked about here! Speed wasn't that bad either...I've had worse in hotels in rural areas in this country.

It won't be too bad for checking emails and a few web pages, but really a bad idea to spend much time online out there.
