What's the price? I hope he succeeds, too. He is a quality guy.

Alledgedly, there is a totally fictious story about Marcos at Le Mans, can't remember if it was 1995 or '96. Anyway, one of the LM500s broke down some way out on the circuit and radio'ed in to say that some small part had broken. Of course, the pit crew were not allowed to take the part to the car, but 'someone' got permission from the officials for a mobile phone to be taken out to the driver so that he could get instruction as to how to remedy the problem.

Do you remember how bulky mobiles were 7 years ago, well this one was further bulked by said part. The driver, fitted the part and was off again.

Now, who told me that story....

Well, it wasn't me, although it could have been! Actually, it was a pair of LM600s, the year was 1995, and the driver in question was Francois Migault. The ECU had failed out on the Mulsanne, and he was stranded there with what was, in many ways, a very basic problem. He feigned a radio failure and the mechanics were able to pass him a replacement ECU over the barriers after convincing the marshals it was an alternative form of communication - so that they could instruct him on how to effect a repair. Obviously it worked, since he was able to return to the garage and have the car checked out properly! Ultimately, the car went on to finish, although wasn't technically classified.

When I were a lad in the 60's my dream car was always a Marcos, but the nearest I ever got was an Austin Healey and an MGA. I once met Jem Marsh in a pub, but imagine my surprise when I went outside to the car park and found he had arrived in a Lotus Elan! I now drive a TVR but still fancy a Marcos.

I hope it goes well, i used to be a Marcos dealer, when the MantaRay was launched. Didn't do as well as it should have. The Mantis just blew you away.
My only opinion on this is, Jem is a top guy, i've got all the time in the world for him but, i hope there is someone younger with more control and Jem is just the front man, cos they're a bit stuck in they're ways.

P.S. Hope they've got rid of the old nissan huts!!!

'fraid the nissan huts are still there...I think most of the younger blood in the company buggered off when they went bust - leaving Jem still there.

I know it's not a Marcos, but it's good to see Chris Marsh making a comeback at this month's Motorshow with the Invicta. I understand he's got plans to race one as well, so it could be another car to watch in the British GTs.

I owned a LM500 for 3 years. Best 3 yrs of my life...what a car!!! This new car just looks like the Mantaray. What makes Marcos think they can succeed where the Mantaray failed? Lets hope Jem advertises the cars better and exploits every market??? Good luck
