Don't people generally "retire" from celebrity when they stop getting calls for work? How many genuinely in-demand celebs getting regular work choose to opt out of it?

Death is quite an extreme way of opting out though.

Didn't David ''burger'' Vanday try and break back into show business fairly recently? He did that jungle thing and also tried to relaunch Dollar with some wannabe rapper in the video. He's obviously a heavy drinker now too judging by his skin complexion.

SUrprised noone has mentioned Syd Barrett (former Pink Floyd frontman) who went utterly doolally after partaking in too many drugs, got kicked out of the band, and ended up working for years in Boots in Cambridge...

He probably still has plenty of royalties coming in from the early PF stuff, but his brain is so addled he probably wouldn't even know.

I am sure I read somewhere that one of the former members of 80's band The Thompson Twins is now a doctor in the states. I think it was Joe Leeway.

Correct. He just did some painting after leaving the music scene. Apparently he left nearly £2m in his will.

More like he's coming into little Bob....

It might have been said, but for all you Rugby fans out there, there's a chance next time (if you are unlucky enough) you fly Ryan Air, Tony Underwood might be one of your pilots!
