Just a quick heads up,and although it's not new, maybe worth a warning to the older members of the family.
My son-in-law works for the local council and received this today.
"Can you circulate this around internally and externally, especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize .
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.
For more information, see the Crime Stoppers website:"

Wait a minute, I'm just going back to 2005 to give everyone a heads up

I have some magic beans to sell your local council if they're interested.

To be fair to the OP, I've never heard of that before.
The petrol and virus stuff are fairly obvious.
And buying stuff off ebay, as I do, I get parcels delivered/dumped/thrown in the bushes.
I would have had no idea that that was a scam if they'd left a bogus card.
Whether the £315 is accurate I don't know, but anyway.

I don't think I'd heard of it either but it just takes 10 seconds on Google to confirm
