Why is there always such vitriol towards Lewis.

It's never good humoured digs or light-language like 'plonker'.
He attracts genuine hatred. It's really very strange.

Just look at the clown, there is your answer.
He is of course free to dress the way he wants to, people are also free to have their opinion of it.

Maybe something witty as opposed to bile and vitriol

I honestly think there are 2 answers.

One racism. Like it or not it exists, he certainly is a target for racists and receives racist hatred.

Two. A lot of people view him as a complete berk. He doesn't help matters with some of his actions and speeches.

So put simply. Some people hate him because of what he is. The others hate him because of what he does.

Hating someone you've never met is very strange behaviour.

I also get the impression some people are just rather lacking in a sense of humour. The zany outfits are often quite tongue-in-cheek, but it seems to upset a certain type, whatever that type is.

Possibly golf-playing masons? biggrin

It's one of the things I like most about him. It doubles the entertainment factor.

Certainly more interesting than turning up in jeans and a t-shirt or corporate team gear.

But why go out of ones way to constantly engage with content about a character you don't vibe with.

That's the bit I can't fathom.

Most bizarre.
I was talking to my father about this the other day. He's in his late 80s and had a long running beef with James Hunt over his behaviour in public after a few beers had been sunk. He made an interesting observation about how through the 60s, 70s and into to 80s for many young men it was a completely normal thing on a weekend to go out and assault other young men you dressed or looked different and that these men are now your modern pensioners who still have the same mindset or just genuinely not liking people who aren't exactly like them.

When you think back to that pre 90s era of seafront, street, football club and pub fighting based around what type of clothing people were wearing or their ethnic background it does seem fathomable to realise that some of those people, maybe many of them still harbour those views and beliefs and that's what is manifesting itself via the safety of social media today?

What has happened to all the violent mods, rockers, NF rally frequenters, football hooligans now they've grown up and retired? Have they all completely abandoned the beliefs and behaviours of their youth or has it just evolved to manifest itself in other ways? And there's bound to be plenty of you her people today with rage that gets pointed at people who are different to them so is that also what you're seeing online against people like LH, women and other seeming targets?

Someone started a thread basically just to have a go at Lewis for his eccentric outfit at Spa. The thread was closed fairly quickly but what stood out to me was this comment:

The other person visible in the photo looked nothing like Hamilton's dad. The only similarity was that it was someone who was black.

He's dammed whatever he wears, sponsors shirt and smart trousers and he's sold out to 'The Man' or wear the wacky stuff and get mocked for being a plonker.

Personally I think he's trolling the interweb and winning hehe

It's some remarkable kit. Growing up in London one got used to seeing the occasional person dressed in some crazy stuff.

My original assumption was that he kept losing bets with mates back home but it's entertaining nonetheless.

I have to confess to liking some of his questionable outfits. I would imaging he's being paid a lot to wear them too.

The oposite, he sponsors young up and coming British designers.
