I've got a mate with a kid called Corbyn.

That the dad is a bit of a Tory Boy does amuse me greatly! smile

Not sure if it really helps much, but when they say "You look like an idiot/ahole/tosser etc." they don't specifically mean Jamie Oliver.

Apparently "Corbyn" as a first name is increasing in popularity.

It has been proven time and time again that having a stupid name can seriously damage your chances of success when submitting a CV or job application.

Doesn't seem to put people off though, and I suspect the parents are already called Tanisha & Tyrone so can't see the problem.

Watched a recently recorded "8 out of 10 Cats" last night.

Rob Beckett was joking about Jamie Oliver's kids' names, suggesting one was called Spaghetti Pete. When Jimmy Carr read the names of JOliver's kids' names, suddenly Spaghetti Pete didn't seem all that ridiculous!

laugh
Jamie Oliver is Top 5 annoying. There's literally nothing about him that is not annoying. It's masterful really.
He is. What's worse for me is that two people on two separate occasions have said I look like him.
You'd better wear a badge, then. I'd hate to use my cattle prod on you by mistake...smile

I'm sure there's a footballer/glamour girl married couple with kids called Rocky and Stryker.

I knew of a girl called Laura who voluntarily went by "Lora".

Yes, she had 2 kids while still in her teens.

There was a woman on 15 to 1 yesterday named Mairhead ,pronounced Mirade.

Didn't catch an accent but possibly Irish descent ?
Mairead is a traditional Irish name. Just like Ciomhe, Aiofe, Eaimearr, Grainne...
Thought so but it was definitely spelt with a H ,it was on her name badge.
I caught a couple of seconds of that while channel surfing, can't remember if her name had an H or not, but I won't argue.
Can't see anything wrong in her name, just a nice Irish one, pronounced Mirade as has been said.
Other nice Irish girls names are, Aoife, EEfa, Saoirse, SEERsha, Sorca, SORca, Niamh, NEEuhve, and Róisín, ROEsheen.
Just my opinion of course.
...and Sadhbh, my daughter's name.

Sorry, it's pronounced Sive (as in five, with an S). It means sweet and lovely
My children will hate me, I'm sure. My son is called Ruairí, which is Rory but with more of a "u" sound, like rural

Pronounced Sive per Hackney. eek
I've had a bash at a few European languages but Gaelic looks a bit tricky to me.

There is evidence that people are predisposed towards behaviour and work that fits their names.

Seems like it's having a bit of a resurgence, my niece is learning in school (she's 6) and I hope my two will give it a go on the basis that learning a language (any language is good), and it's part of their heritage, my wife's Irish, I'm English. We live in England though so it'd take a bit more effort here.

This isn't a new thing. A little lad who came in to buy sweets in the garage I was working in 1970 was called Laurie Hardy. He wasn't the full shilling. Whether it was as a result of his name we never established.
