General opinion is that Drippers give better flavour and throat hit than tank atomisers. It is also my opinion...
Great, thanks for that. Got any recommendations of what the best ones are?
I've been using one of the Ebaron Pro drippers for the last 6 months or so and can vouch for their quality.

http://www.houseofmods.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?Pr...

I progressed from protank to nautilus etc but eventually got sick of having the same flavour all day long. And had a few leaks from the tanks/ breakages of the tanks, so thought I'd try dripping.

I haven't tried building my own coils yet. I just bought a few bags of the ready made ones when I bought the dripper, but understand they can be rebuilt fairly easily if you want to try.

I definitely prefer dripping to tank atomisers now. For me the flavour and throat hit is better. And easy to chop & change between flavours.
I also prefer the compact/less fragile form factor of my new set up.

The eBaron drippers/attys are great (I'm just waiting on an adaptor kit they now do for it to work in my mod), however add setup costs if you wish to make your own coils, as they use non resistance wire for the legs, which need to be welded to the coil...

Not sure how much a zapper can be had for, last time I looked it was enough to buy a bloody nice clone!

I'm currently chatting to a guy to mod my Billet Box to have LiPo cells and a DNA40 chip - then I can run the Sofia atty with plain NR wire for temp control. cloud9

Depends on what you're after really, vapour or flavour.

I moved from a Nautilus Mini to RDA's last month. I originally purchased an IGO-W Plus to practise rebuilding on (with my MVP2, so higher ohm builds) and then went on to buy a Dark Horse to go with an SX Mini (both original) and also ordered a Nemesis & Magma Clone from Fasttech. The Dark Horse is brilliant, easy to build on and produces a good combination of flavour and vapour. The vapour from my Magma is a lot less but the flavour is just as good - it can be rather leaky though.

Just be aware that if you're wanting to get into rebuilding, make sure you've an ohm reader (or at least a device capable of reading ohms). This is probably the most useful tool to ensure remaining safe. Also look into battery safety as there is A LOT out there regarding the best kinds (Samsungs & Sonys are generally held in high regard) - applicable if you're going for a mech mod or a mod that takes a separate battery. If you're building higher ohm coils, wire is a lot more fiddly to use so perhaps look into getting a coil jig. I actually bought one (Boom Boom Revolver) to go with my lower guage wire and it's a great tool for not a lot of money.

Also, be aware that it's a slippery slope from here. As much as you say you've your heart set on one atty, another one will come up that you like the look of! I've actually given away some of my stuff to a family member as it was just laying around for "the one time it'll come in handy"!

been a while since I've been on here but ukv is a great source of info on ecigs, but you may end up getting tempted to move up. I've currently got an 8.4v series mod with a 30mm doge dripper coiled to around 250w and i blame kV haha

Hi all,

After a bit of advice. I've been happily using my Kamry K1000 (bought on recommendation from this thread!) for a number of months.

Unfortunately it's started leaking from the tank. It's probably just wear and tear on the o'rings that seal it.

So I need a new tank - the question is, which one? I'd like a screw in replacement please that's not too bulky. The output from the Kamry one was fine, but if I can get more vapour with an upgrade that would be fine too.

Pretty much anything cleromiser with a 510 thread will fit. I wouldn't touch anything sub ohm like the Aspire Atlantis (probably too big anyway). The Aspire mini Nautilus is what I use. Old pic but shows what it looks like.

I wouldn't recommend the Aspire Nautilus to anybody after using one. I've had nothing but problems with mine.

When I first got it, it was fantastic, I could turn the ppwer up to 12 watts and I got a gorgeous tasting, smooth, warm vape.

I've never been able to recreate that again though. I've had several heads that have burnt out after a day and not one has been able to recreate that initial experience. I'm down to 7 watts now, in the hope that will stop the coils burning out so fast.

The good news is that I've become so pissed off with it, it's made me go onto rebuildable coils. Hopefully I'll have a lot more luck when I'm making the coils myself.

Goimg with recommendations from this thread, I bought a Nautilus Mini tank and I'm very pleased with it. Snag is, it's a touch oversized to fit my Innokin VTR - I have to screw the 510 connecter end on first and attach the Pryex tank and slurpy end in situ. That's tricky and breakages loom.

I reckon it's time to move my VTR kit on and buy a box mod of the newer type. I'd like to use an iStick bending adaptor, to make the kit foldable and protect the 510 socket.

So...

  • Any recommendations?
  • Are any of the mods capable of accepting a separate battery (or batteries), rather than having an integral and presumably irreplaceable battery?
  • My VTR goes to 15 watts and has VV. Do I need go for more than 20 watts?
  • Should any be avoided?
Thanks in advance wavey

Sounds like you are giving it too much power. I run mine at around 7.6w/3.8v and never burnt a coil. My coils last one to two weeks.

Mabe I'm doing something wrong but I run mine 8-10w and mine last 2-4weeks?

Coils seem to be very hit & miss with these but the BVC heads are miles better than the older BDC ones. I hated my first Nautilus with BDC (check my old posts!!! Almost went in the bin) swapped for bvc and I'm using these aspires more than anyother tank now. 12w is high for these though, I keep mine around 7-8w and coils last almost a fortnight.

Still not a patch on a good rebuildable though. If you get into them then I'd 100% recommend a Rose V2, I've got 2 clones and both are leagues ahead of anything else I've tried. I'd love a genuine one but they're £££

Best wicking material I've tried is this stuff. Haven't had a single dry hit yet even when the tanks empty smile

Last year, for various bad reasons, I stupidly fell off the nicotine wagon after seven or eight years clean. At the weekend I popped into The Puffin Hut in Wootton Basset and asked what I needed to get started. They were brilliant, sorted me out with a Smok T-Dux 2.0 and three juices. They let you try the juices before you buy, and explain how everything works.

Tried smoking a fag this evening - couldn't finish it, tasted like st. Converted.

So far, I've spent about £60 (bought some more juices and spare coils) and have saved £40 in fags not bought. Brilliant. It shows just how short sighted (and perhaps puritanical) anti-smoking campaigners and the smoking cessation industry are that it never occurred to them to offer a harm reduction product that was actually enjoyable.

Current favourites are Hangsen Irish Cream, Menthol Sensation and Watermelon.

Planning on buying a AGA-T7 rebuildable atomizer on Friday. Sick to death of the Nautilus Aspire now.

I've mentioned it before but when I first got it, it was wonderful. Had it running at 12W and the first coil lasted me 2 weeks. Just can't seem to replicate that first initial experience though.

The coils say they rated up to 6v and 12w with a 1.6ohm coil was about 5.5v. Since I've turned it down to 8w, the coils are lasting longer but I'm getting no where near as much vape and throat hit.

Can't help with the AGA sorry as ive never had one but this is what I use:

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1849800

Bit fiddly to set up the first couple times then it's easy. These 1:1 clones are a great way of getting into rebuildables (as long as its a decent clone....poor ones will drive you crazy!!!) I think the genuine Rose V2 is £120 so for £14 these agre great for trying out.

I found that 10w was the perfect point on a 1.6ohm coil, any more and it would taste burnt to me. I always primed the coil with 2 or 3 drops in to the top of the coil and leave it for a few minutes, then it would give it a 2-3 sec burst three or four times, same again at 6w, 7w etc until I got to 10w then I would use it as normal. Never had any issues. I've moved on to rebuildables now (Lemo drop) bit more hassle than a Nautilus, but a far better vape.
