Things you are proud to be ignorant of?
Discussion
On a forum full of people who appear to try to be better and more knowledgeable than others, what things are you proud to be ignorant of?
Me - Celebrity culture and everything associated with it. I don't usually watch live TV, and can't be happier whenever I haven't got a clue what a Kerry Katona is or what the fk a Kardashiaianannn does...

Anything to do with Twitter.
I was at a Dell training event the other day, they were twittering the progress.I really couldn't understand why?! It was a small informal sales course with 5 people including me attending. Hardly the event of the century.
Companies appear to be using it now just to appear "cool" or something, I guess...

Are you sure ignorance is the right word? Ignorance isn't something to be proud of.
Sadly though, many people are proud of it, as if there's some cachet about it. Some "cool" factor that marks them apart from the herd for daring to be different. The most common one on here is when Facebook or Twitter is mentioned. Some berk will invariably pontificate that it's a load of rubbish and generally sad that people use it. As opposed to a simple "I don't use it" or not saying anything. It's rather pathetic, to be honest.
ETA - just seen Carrot's post That's not what I meant though, that's fair enough, it's a valid opinion that using Twitter for that "event" seemed a bit pointless. What I'm referring to is the "Deliberate Luddite" who'll lambast something for no other reason than they don't use it, or understand it.
I don't think "proud to be ignorant about..." applies, but I'm certainly not ashamed to not have much of a clue or any interest about anything to do with any sports, despite being of the male sex.
I don't mind that other people like it and some take that to an obsessional level of knowledge and interest, but it's just not really for me. I'm not at all knowledgeable about oceanography either, but never has an occasion arisen as to where I might need to mention or list all the myriad things I know very little about or have no interest in, but sport it seems I do need to, on a tediously regular basis.
It's always slightly amusing when you simply admit to not being into football when somebody tries to make smalltalk about it and assume because I'm male, that we'll have some form of instant rapport - the response is then to switch to them talking about rugby, then cricket, then F1 and so on at each declaration of "No, I don't really follow sport". "Ah, not into rubgy or football, well you MUST like F1 then..." etc. Err no, I mustn't anything.
