You need to move to the States and become a pimp. Horrific.

Spend your shoe money far more effectively elsewhere.

Bought both of these yesterday with a view to return my least favourite. Im still undecided. For reference im 27. Wanted them for generally walking around when its cold and going out in to meet friends/dates events and things.

For me, the plain ones.

Left my new Loake Thirsks with trees in all summer, but spent quite some time getting them back out this morning! A success though, since they have given enough to be very comfortable now. And warm.

What do all the shoe makers do with all these online purchased shoes people buy and return?

Once you put them on and even take a few paces, won't they then no longer look new? Obviously if you walk 10 miles over lava they'll won't accept them but shoes that have been tried on, won't look new anymore?

It's surely just the same as trying them on in a shop?

Thanks for the opinions. My siblings also said the right hand ones.

I got them both from a high street store. Id planned to see what each looked like with various clothing styles & pick. Im not sure what they will do with them. I assume resell as new as they wouldnt have been outside at all, but with that logic I could be the second/third/fourth owner of both pairs. I have no idea. Maybe someone who frequents this thread works in the sector and can answer it?

Can I discuss "worker" boots in here?

I'm thinking about getting a pair of caterpillar boots but really am not sure on which ones to go for. Fancy tan and more of an upright. Feel I've been using trainers as a go to for too long and these will act just as well in most casual situations instead.

Possibly something like this :

My other issue is that owing to the nature of the size of my legs, jeans take on a fairly tightish (not skin tight) nature, so I'd have to tuck them in to the boots.

I really can't decide if jeans in to boots is an acceptable look or not?

If you're over 20-ish, I'd say no.

19th-century frontiersmen and cowboys would tuck their pants into their boots to keep them free of debris and prevent them from snagging on brush when they rode their horses.

Now, go do our cowboy ancestors proud. hehe

I'm 27, but from what I see the type of style that can pull off wearing the jean inside is not one I'd wear.

Damn and blast!

Now if you'd thought this through you would have suggested a pair of shaps (yes, spelt chaps but that is the way to say it). In fact, with Caterpillar boots we could be starting a whole new style here.

Are the ones on the left the Clarks Montacute Lord? I really like the style as they look a bit like £500 traditional Trickers Stow Boots. The only thing I'm not sure of is the finish on the leather. It looks like it would wear out really quickly and look "distressed". Those already look well worn to me.

I cannot speak for the boots but I've had at least ten pairs of the shoes as my all-weather go-to shoes - they are great value, comfortable, waterproof, and have about 4mm of tread hidden under them too. They wear very well, and in truth I don't take much care of them beyond buying pairs and alternating.
