it seems the thread massive don't understand that there is a jeans middle-ground between horrific 90s bootcut baggies and improbable spray-on jean-tights. If you must wear jeans, then at least put the same consideration into those jeans as you would into your shoes. Baggy jeans with shoes is an unforgivable sin!

You will excuse "the thread massive" if we don't take sartorial advice from somebody who seeks input and approval on their choice of shoes prior to purchase won't you? Edited by InductionRoar on Monday 30th November 21:07
Q
I was just looking up what colours are available and have found a pair of 8 hole cherry reds at quite a cheap price on cyber Monday sales...so another pair is on its way to me! A bit of black polish on them and a buff, and they'll be the colour that I want in no time.
Happy days

Picked these up yesterday, 8 Hole Cherry Solovair
So nice, and much better quality and colour than the equivalent Chinese made DMs
Almost ended up buying these for the OH too, but she decided to be sensible in the end!
I've had 2 pairs of English made Docs and 2 made in Thailand, and I can't say that I noticed a difference in them.So nice, and much better quality and colour than the equivalent Chinese made DMs

Just to add - Slim Fit is the way forward, although sometimes a pair of skinnier jeans works well with high top converse, or loafers and no socks in the summer
I like raw selvedge denim, based on the pair of APC Petit New Standards I have. They're my favourite jeans I've ever owned, hands down. They'll only get better looking as they fade and develop too. The first few wears aren't particularly comfortable but when they've softened up that bit they're really something else.
I personally like jeans a little bit shorter than some other people: covering the ankle, but not much more. Again, mostly because the APCs look spot on to me that way.
On an unrelated note, I bought that pair of red Adidas Milano mentioned a page or two back. Look nice, not as orange as I had feared and not so vibrant as to be ridiculous.

If I have to be smart, I think Armani J06 or Edwins (can't remember the style name/number) are the best for me in dark colours but not proper selvedge denim, as that bleeds onto everything, even if you duct tape the insides of them!

on't listen to them. Skinny jeans are the work of a cretin.
I'm firmly of the opinion jeans should cover the laces, and ankles should never be seen. Hence I usually wear boots or a slight bootcut with trainers. Not shapeless dad efforts but not ridiculous One Direction style either. There's nothing worse than someone over 30 or overweight trying to pull off a teenage style unsuccessfully.
Oh I don't know, maybe someone who still dresses in jeans like they are going to a rave in 1990? I'm firmly of the opinion jeans should cover the laces, and ankles should never be seen. Trainers: laces must be covered with a bootcut (not 90s baggies, just a slight kick)
Shoes: don't wear them
Boots: a straighter and narrower leg without being ridiculous, those you pictured are fine
My main issue is I don't want to see my or anyone else's ankles or nasty ideas of what constitutes stylish socks. Trousers should cover the ankle, even when sitting. Which is where the boots come in.
But in saying that I find most of the shoes on here horrendous so I'm not looking for agreement. Can't understand the fascination with tan brogues. Or brogues full stop for that matter.
