Ardwick was one of them - will try and remember the other.Cheers.
christ has anyone got any "boring brown brogues" photos and chat please....
on the shoe care side of things, the suede cleaner was excellent and has got water marks out of a new pair of suede shoes I bought recently and only wore once. Annoyingly I had suede water protector on them so I am not sure why they got stained. The Saphir polish is really excellent stuff - don't stop at the cleaner/nourisher stuff e.g. Renovateur, that's only to get you to the point where you can start polishing up, not a substitute for.
I'd be lying if I said the Saphir brushes didn't feel very nice in the hand too, despite them probably not making a whole lot of difference to results over 50p costco ones.
Incidentally I still use old boxer shorts as buffing cloth...

Dark blue, pale blue in the dots. Also came with some pale blue laces but that was a step too far for me. Barker's, very happy with them, starting to get a bit addicted to this shoe lark.
Just give us a link, not sure if you bought suede Baxters or leather Barkers Edited by tuffer on Saturday 11th June 18:06

When I was getting into decent shoes, I sent an enquiry to John Lobb (London) to see how much it would cost to get a basic plain pair of bespoke oxfords made up for me. I had no real idea how much they would cost, but I thought that if they cost, say, £2k a pair I might treat myself for a big birthday or other special occasion.
Needless to say, I knocked the idea on the head when I found out I would't be able to buy even a left shoe with my initial budget!

John Lobb St. James are silly money - there are lots of bespoke makers who make products at least the equal of Lobb for a fraction of the price. I think the Royal Warrants add a certain "value" to their brand which means they can literally charge what they want.

I don't own any Lobbs, but what's the deal with JL Paris vs JL London?
I thought JL Paris was the Northampton factory making high quality ready to wear shoes (Paris because it was bought by a fashion house?)
I also thought JL London is that bespoke-only makers in London
I seemed to think the two are not related.
Have i got this right?

There is essentially a bespoke arm of both companies (or was) but these guys are far more knowledgeable on the subject.I thought JL Paris was the Northampton factory making high quality ready to wear shoes (Paris because it was bought by a fashion house?)
