Bravo.

A very good line, and not one you hear very often these days.

Two tone oxford brogue is quite a classic shoe, but rare is the occasion they can be worn without much finger pointing and hilarity. Probably great as an an ice breaker. hehe
Probably saves the wearer the effort of telling everyone that they're a bellend.

I've also located some brown suede Joseph Cheaney derbyoxford shoes. Unfortunately they are an 8.5 (I'm a 9), we'll see how they go. Worst comes to worst, I'll return them smile
Why on earth would you knowingly buy shoes in the wrong size?
If it's half a size they could actually fit better than the size you think you are. Or worse. Could go either way. Depends on shoe.
They didn't have 9s in stock.

For half a size, worth a punt. If they fit ok - great, if not - they get returned.

Beggars can't be choosers. frown
They fit smile

Sorry about the crap phone pics. Essentially this in brown suede.

Unlike the two tones, it doesn't say 'Goodyear Welted' on the sole so maybe these aren't (though I note the ones in the link above are labelled GW). Perhaps this omission on the sole, means they failed QC and hence ended up in TK Maxx so poor people like me can buy them. smile

They look welted, isn't that the rubber bit on the top of the outsole?

Nice.

Most makers don't advertise the construction method on their shoes so I wouldn't take the omission to mean they aren't GYW. The stitching on the sole wouldn't be needed if they weren't welted so you know they are.

I don't imagine Cheaney make blake-stitched or cemented construction shoes so if they fit quite a bargain.

It's to do with the construction of the shoe:

Thanks IR. smile

I thought/expected they would be GYW. Looking at the Cheaney website it seemed the lack of GYW labelling on the sole was an exception to the rule hence me asking the question.

Looking inside, I don't see any evidence of a Blake stitching.

I'm happy with them. smile

hehe thanks for that.

As your diagram confirms and as I said, the welt is the rubber bit on the top of the outsole,

The welt is usually a strip of leather, not rubber.

Quite right. I saw this and thought church's used some kind of rubber based welt.

A welt can be a variety of materials though. It's the process rather than the material that makes it welted.

Sorry el stovey, I thought you were (somewhat oddly) referring to the rubber bit on the heel. biggrintongue out

Edit to add:

I may have accidentally ordered another pair. whistle

Thanks but as pointed out above, I was wrong as it's leather not rubber on (both) your fine handcrafted Goodyear welted shoes.

Both of which I like BTW. thumbup

I was gonna go down to that London to try them on, but it's an online only shop, so I'm gonna have to figure out the size and hope for the best. hehe
