I actually had a dream about walking in my boots in the snow, and worrying about the damage, before my gun oil had arrived!!

I'm thinking of these as my more hardy winter boots for more knockabout stuff.
i'm going to need your boots and your motorcycle!
You've got a bit of a thing about other people's boots, haven't you B2CV?

It's ok to be boot curious.

Come out of the shoe closet. silly
well i just think boots are generally inadvisable in most of their forms!! Ankle boots can be fine... but calf boots on a man... not so sure!!

As so often is the case, when I cannot find what I want Russell and Bromley has something close. I picked up these. Not the last word in quality but not bad and the right sole / colour combo for my requirement.

Nice.

How much (if you don't me asking)?

Tbh I would be surprised if these do sell out, also coming out in black with Neon Yellow stripes
I'm reassured by the thought they might not disappear in seconds, but why do you suspect they won't sell out? Given there's also a shot from the sequel to Trainspotting with Ewan McGregor's character in them, I had assumed they might have a bit of pop culture appeal. Probably not much, but with my luck, any could leave them unattainable.

Cheers for the opinion though, it's definitely comforting to think these will do as a consolation prize.

I've got some Grenson loafers that are quite hard and pointed, whereas my feet are squishy and rounded. The result is that they are not super comfortable. Is this stuff worth a go, or is professional stretching the only real solution?

Bought these on sale for £45. Delivered today, they look good (will get pics), good presentation seem to fit well.

In my experience most of the SPZL range that gets release hit the sales racks and I don't see why these would be different. Sure they hold memories etc for lots of people but I don't suspect they will be limited to a low number, previously even the Munchen and Hochelega that was highly anticipated even went to sales and they was mighty popular. The only ones I know that sold out and was never restocked was the Topanga SPZL on the original release and the Manchesters just gone

Obvs incould be completely wrong but at £90 a pair for basically a glorified release of Samba I think they won't be hard to get. The brown leather travel bag that is coming with them on the other hand is a different story. People have been waiting for that for months.

Hope you get lucky and get a pair. I won't be bothering tbh however might pick a pair up if they see half price after xmas

How's that supposed to work? Buy a can slightly longer than your shoe and wedge it in?

I imagine it has alcohol or something similar in it which softens leather and allows it to more easily mould to one's foot.

I've just ordered some, so I will let you know if it works.

See, now you've got me thinking that I ought to hold off and score a pair for less. You're not wrong when you say the majority of releases haven't sold out immediately. Even the Lacombe, which is unanimously considered 'good', didn't disappear immediately. Some of the SPZL range doesn't tickle my fancy at all - the Mounfield, even as a Stone Roses fan, did very little for me.

You might just have convinced me to hold off on the Samba Spezial for a week or two, at least. Come to think of it, are the SPZL releases really markedly higher quality? Thanks for potentially saving me a few quid!

Generally I think they are decent quality, one or 2 have said otherwise but I have about 9/10 pairs did SPZL's and have been happy with them all. Personally the Munchen or the Hochelega are my favourite but there is a lot I like. You weee right about the lacombe., I don't have them myself but everyone said they was great quality and they still ended up on sale after originally selling out

You have shown great restraint Halb.

I wandered into the Jeffery West shop in Piccadilly Arcade just of Jermyn St yesterday.
That is a serious eye opener!

I don't think there are any shoes in there that I would choose to wear personally, but 5 stars for innovation.

How long has the John Lobb shop been open on Jermyn St?
Looks to be newly fitted. I presume it's their off the shelf retail outlet?
Sadly, they locked the doors at 6 and I didn't have the opportunity to go in for a look.

I'm going to "That London" for the weekend and staying on Berkley Street.

Note to self: Resist the temptation to nip down the arcade to Jermyn St.
DO NOT look at shoes or watches.

Probably not going to happen silly

Do you have a 'speshal' requirement?

I tend to use a plastic one that came with some Barker shoes.

However, you could always go for ribbed for extra pleasure;

Money no object, I would probably get a premium one with a ducks head on the end;
