Just came back from a trip to Northants to visit the shoe factories.

Pleased with my unlined suede summer loafers from Gaziano & Girling...

And so you should be, they are very, very nice.

But now, as is customary, we need to talk about your carpet. What on earth is going on? Do you live in the castle of a fairy princess?
Let it go.......

hehe

With 2 young daughters at home, it's not difficult to find a suitably fabulous background to spice up the PH shoe shots.

Interesting that you find the flooring to be the detail most worthy of scrutiny in that picture. Freelitres will be along shortly to enlighten you.
I didn't say or imply anything of the sort. I do, however, wonder whether FL may harbour a fondness for show tunes.

They are unlike any G&Gs I have seen.

Well spotted. The loafers are not a standard make-up as the development team had been experimenting with different sole materials, finishes, constructions, etc. The uppers are standard G&G though. The unlined suede feels fantastic.

I was very lucky as I ended up with the top man himself, Mr Gaziano, showing me around the G&G factory and letting me try on shoes and giving a tour of the samples room, etc.. He was a true Gent and very passionate about his wares.

Mr G organised something very special for me regarding my 2nd pair. I don't have them yet, so I will have to wait a few weeks for the reveal.

I'm not a massive shoe geek, but I do have a weakness for bordeaux brogues.
Couldn't resist these Base Turner's for work shoes at £49.99 from tReds
Not sure about the laces though. Looks decidedly cheap.

That is interesting.

I can see at least five differences on the sole/heel just from that picture. Did he give any insight as to the reasons why they are changing them?

From what I gathered, this was just an early stage experiment to try some things out. Don't worry, they will not be changing the soles that you are used to. I handled a few of their RTW shoes and there is something about their standard sole that oozes quality. It's almost a shame to walk on them!

Ah, thanks for the explanation.

Give us a clue as to what you have incoming. You can't just leave it at that! smile

They look pretty good for the price.

Looking good!

Double monks look really classy IMO. I don't know why more guys dont wear them.

ETA - are we talking hardwood, laminate or lino here?

On the face of it, they are just some fairly safe classic brown oxford toe caps.

It's all in the details though...

For trainers now I will only buy Air Force 1s as the arch support is really good and they hold thier shape. I've found all other trainers I've tried go floppy and lose their shape eventually.
What are they. Had a look and couldn't find them. Like them a lot!

I've ordered some, will probably look quite the tt but hey ho!

Thanks FL. I used to dislike monks but I have had a strange change of opinion and now really like them. With the right trousers I would add.

They are oak planks. Laminate? Quelle horreur.
