Thanks all,

I have some boat shoes so sorted there. I would usually wear longer trousers but suspect it will be too hot on an evening and want to be semi smart. Will check out the suggestions and report back once I've purchased for the customary ridicule.

Surprised they aren't wearing patents. You know, for that smart casual vibe.

will send back the one(s) I like least.

Yes trigger pulled used as a tongue in cheek way of saying "bought".
The pictures are already in order of preference for me. I like the Loake Design range, and they are often on offer at Debenhams.

"Trigger pulled". Have you not been reading the cringeworthy thread?
yea it was tongue in cheek, and i agree with you - i've kept the top two. Nicer than Barkers I think so far.

On the loafer/slip-on debate, I too have not been much of a fan of the looks of these shoes. However, I'm finding that since I have had my two kiddies I am constantly in and out of the house dropping them off or collecting them from somewhere. The shoes that are getting by far the most wear are some battered old cheapy Grenson moccasons. It makes a huge difference to literally step out of my house slippers and step into the moccasons and walk out of the door.

I do find it difficult to find slip-ons that don't slip at the heel or crush my toes though. The fit has to be just right to work out ok.

My Barker driving loafers have arrived.

Overall, pretty much just what I was looking for in a driving shoe. I like the fit and the colour. However, there is an annoying squelsh/sticky noise when I walk as the "insole" of one shoe is coming away from the rubber sole. I suspect that soneone else had sent these back after discovering the fault as the outsoles looked slightly grubby and the listing reapeared after being sold out.

I have lifted the insole and added some more glue to try and resolve it. I'll see tomorrow if it has worked.

[OCD] The oldschool yellow Barkers box doesnt match my blue boxes either curse [/OCD]

Cleverleys are completed so I will be going down on 21st of this month to collect them. bounce

When you look at the difference in the width of the heel to the forefoot, it is hardly surprising I cannot find a RTW last that is perfect.

You may have some duck in your blood line.

Why do the welts appear light in that shot?

This demands a coming out party in Bond Street.
We have an address, we have a date, all we need is the time.
And some flooring.
Who will bring the carpet (or pixie flooring in FreeLitres case) for the photos?

What's hicking? Sounds like mild indigestion, but I am not sure how those are going to help.

We will have to bring an extra long red carpet that stretches from the shop to your house. You wouldn't want to scuff those hand finished oak bark tanned soles on the nasty tarmac!

Congrats IR - they do look great. Not long now!

Are these true to size? Interested in a pair but they size for UK9 comes up EU44 which is usually a 10

Just received a pair of Herring Canning Brogues in brown and not 100% sure...

Any recommendations for other brown/dark brown brogues of similar or less cost? Struggling to find anything else I like enough to order!
