Can you tell the difference between Goodyear welted and cemented shoes from such a distant shot?
Yes. I find the welt stitching useful in that regard.
Never seen a pair with fake stitching? I have
No never.

I did, however, take the effort to look on the Jeffery West website before posting. None of their cemented construction shoes have any fake stitching so I would have thought they would be very easy to tell apart.
The majority of the range that we are speaking about available in general retailers are not on the Jeffery West website as those ranges (Goodyear welted and blake stitched) are the ranges available through their own shops or direct.

Thanks for the info Craig. smile

Out of interest, which non JW retailers would you trust to sell the 'real deal' shoes?

I have absolutely no experience of either the brand nor of fake stitching. I was merely surprised that you would classify the GYW shoes as good and the cemented models as crap, but couldn't tell them apart form a photo which I thought was actually quite detailed.

This range is very clearly cemented.

I never said they were crap. They are fairly decent shoes but not the same quality wise and to be fair I am on the road on a phone so I'm not really able to see detail in pictures from where I am

None of them really while the shoes are in their "season" unless it's somewhere like Selfridges. If they do appear on the general retail circuit they are usually left overs from previous ranges

Fair enough. I am clearly putting words in your mouth, although your own analogy of comparing a Prius with an LS is somewhat indicative of how you see the respective desirability of both. A Prius isn't a crap car, but equally, it is rarely used as an example of desirability.

OK maybe that was a bad example hehe but I was trying to think of two ranges owned by the same company that have differing quality levels and that was the first one that came to mind. Maybe VW vs Audi would have been a better one but I was just trying to illustrate a point.

Those interested need to really see a pair side by side

I do hope (as annoying as you can sometimes be smile) that you have neither been banned from the thread, nor are feeling unwell.

I have a green pair too Bill but it's more of a Burnish effect on black leather but then you would probably expect that of me and my outlandish taste in shoes hehe

He hasn't been seen since 21st Feb. Maybe his wall of Addidas shoe boxes has fallen on him

The trainers in question are really lightweight "Nike Mayfly Prm" which I got for a very low price in the Nike outlet store.

I just checked out some reviews to learn that they are designed to last only 100 km - named after the Mayfly because of it's short lifespan!

It's a good job they were cheap then!

A lot of people don't think about that when they buy trainers for running. All proper running trainers will have been designed to do their job for a set distance. A few of the runnings apps will now keep track of how far your trainers have been to remind you to renew
