Country GP... must own a tweed flat cap or two in that case?
I still see a bow tie or two in your life one day
I once read a quote that I was certain had been attributed to Oscar Wilde, though I have subsequently failed to find any reference to it, along the lines of "a gentleman should dress to perfection, putting on his clothes and paying the finest attention to every detail... and then forget them."
Once you have learned the 'art' of forgetting what you're wearing, it no longer looks like trying, it is just you.
I think the younguns refer to that as 'owning it'.
Do check out Shaun's instagram and website, if you haven't already, he is a very talented guy IMO.
He creates neck ties, that bow he is wearing is from Turnbull & Asser stock if I am not mistaken.
No flat caps, but perhaps something in the future. At the moment, I'm more suited to beanie hats.I still see a bow tie or two in your life one day

If an outfit it worn in confidence, even if not adhering to the 'rules' it can look good. I think one needs to have a good understanding of the rules first (fit, colour, patterns, combinations etc). Once that is achieved, the rules can be bent/broken for a more individual look.
Will check out Shaun's IG

The two younger (than me) gentlemen to whom my comments were principally directed have both shown over several threads to have a certain flair for style over fashion, with a hint of traditionalism.
Thank you for the compliment. My wife calls me a tart. Wedding out in Spain presented an opportunity to wear the two tone Barker loafers (sans socks naturally).
(Combined with cream chinos, tan belt, pink shirt, quarter lined blue jacket and white pocket square for anyone who cares)
Went down well. Only the second time I've worn these as they aren't the kind of style that lends itself to work.
Also had the chance to wear the Timberland boat shoes I bought a while ago during the last few days here (again no socks). Genuinely some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Very impressed and would recommend as an all round summer shoe.

G3org3y.... the JW's are not too avantgarde for work.... work is perceived as too formal for JW's in your head. Once you have ignored that message in your head and wear them you might get a couple of comments initially and then that's it.... the JW's are in.
My work environment is very formal but it doesn't stop me wearing mine or my Gresham Blake wares which are a bit more "avantgarde" than my Cad and the Dandy stuff.

Fancy some loafers and/or deck shoes for next summer as I'm getting a bit old for trainers - one question though for those who wear without socks (which seems to be everybody): How do you stop your feet from sweating without them or do you go for some sort of invisible 'trainer' sock? Presumably not......
thanks
thanks

I think it's about trying to get them into an outfit that is otherwise relatively conservative (and now we're getting into autumn quite tweedy). It's the red laces more than anything. Without those, they are simply fancy looking brown/blue brogues. I may consider buying a set of brown laces to increase their usability. My work environment is very formal but it doesn't stop me wearing mine or my Gresham Blake wares which are a bit more "avantgarde" than my Cad and the Dandy stuff.
Colleagues at work are used to my somewhat alternative footwear.
These went down really well when worn to work:

Fair to have reservations given some of the clothing discussions in the Lounge.Outfit you posted v similar. The jacket (from Hackett) was more a royal blue than navy. Has quite fun Union Jack (quarter) lining and proper working cuffs. The shirt was a very light microcheck pink. Cream/tan chinos were ones I wear to work, turn up at the bottom so sat better with the loafers.
Most importantly, no drinks were spilt on the shoes.

I've tried no show socks but even the low ones were visible with the loafers (they worked fine with trainers and other summer shoes though). This was the first time I wore the loafers with no socks at all. I'm hoping the shoe tree will keep the shoes fresh and free from odour. thanks

I have a few pairs and don't wear them with invisible socks, I tend to find my feet are cooler as result and they don't sweat, even in hot weather.thanks

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say... I quite like the look of floor covering. That photo could have been me twenty years ago, downing one too many scotches to alleviate the boredom or drown my sorrows after failing to score with the secretary staying in the next room / course facilitator / hot MILF I'd spotted at the bar.

To be honest that photo took me back to when I used to have to stay in corporate hotels. They all had carpet like that.

Did you work out how to mess with the tv remote to get free dirty movies?

With dubious picture quality and labels that had been photocopied in black and white.
To get back on track
Went into Crockett & Jones in the Docklands for a mooch at boots for winter and came out with these for casual:
An these for work:
Will probably go back for a pair of the black boots in brown for further casual use......................expensive bloody trip that was but they are fabulous quality

Have finally had my beloved RM Williams Lachlan boots returned to me after them being sent to London for a repair to the upper, which then resulted in them being sent back to Australia!!! I sent them off in May and they've made their way back across the world to me by September. No charge from Williams though, which seems incredible.

Are those the Northcote on 348 last?
If I ever get around to buying some Shell Cordovan, I will get the Harlech on 341. Looks very similar;
