Not been on this thread in a while. Had a bit of a downer on these overpriced shoes as had a pair which didn't fit right well.
Despite trying a few specialists, I didn't really get much enthusiasm for proper shoes. Just a case of fetch your size and that is it.
The best service and advice was probably from The Whitby Cobbler. Lots of good advice but It is only a small shop and unfortunately he had to keep nipping off to another floor to do keys every time another customer came in.
I still haven't found a seller that actually measures your feet properly or indeed measures them at all. Shame really, at this price point I would have thought sellers would be keen to make sure everything is right. I'll maybe try going to an official outlet in future and see if that differs at all.
Anyway, went window shopping and ended up getting a fantastic deal on these. Hopefully they'll be comfortable enough to wear as a 'daily'.

In the school pound (lost property) I used to pick up army boots for 1/- a pair. Great for the bike with their metal quarters on the rear. Showers of sparks at night. On the other hand, I wore these Barkers last weekend to a baptism. Bought 30 years ago and still perfect.te that cost about a fiver. These all look like those.

The ones I bought are a short Chelsea boot with leather and elasticated sides, but the company make boots for many Rock N Roll bands and pop stars.
While we were checking out the boots another couple came into the carpark in a 458.
I do have 3 pairs of cowboy boots that I usually wear when on the motorbike Hence the name Fatboy

It has been a while then hasn't it, if you thought for one minute you'd get away without someone commenting on that shaggy floor covering (rug?) in your shoes photo! Getting the right width as well as length is a critical beginning to finding a comfortable fit in off the shelf shoes.
I also find that it varies from make to maker as well.
I'm a 9.5 - 10 by most makers, but an 8.5 in Barkers.
When trying shoes in a shop, don't forget that the ones on display have often been tried on by many people before you, and probably aren't a fair reflection of a fresh out of the box pair.
I've also found that there can be slight variances between two pairs of the same model/size that can make all the difference.
More than once I've taken my 'pair' of shoes from two separate boxes (and yes, for the smarty pants amongst you, that would still be one left shoe and one right shoe).

Majorca seems to be a bit of a hot bed for Iberian shoemaking, Carmina and Meermin being there I believe. Do the Spanish have a history of wearing cowboy boots?While we were checking out the boots another couple came into the carpark in a 458.

Some of his ready to wear stuff is a bit out there but his bespoke stuff is excellent. You would be surprised how many “normal” TV personalities he dresses. I get a lot of my stuff from Gresham or James at the Cad and the Dandy. This I actually quite like (quilted insert apart):
