Popping the question

Apparently if she wears a ring on the same finger on the right hand, the left hand is normally a size smaller (if she's right handed, otherwise if left a size larger!)
Worth knowing. To be fair I made a bit of a faux pas earlier. I was measuring my finger for comparison and one of my colleagues pointed out I had the wrong hand. Glad someone pointed that out before the big day.
Got the venue where I plan to pop the question sorted out too. Reservation booked, champagne (metaphorically speaking) on ice.

I would definitely not buy the ring without her involvement. Choosing it is great fun for her. My wife had it made after consulting with the jeweller and has never regretted it.
If you feel that its essential to propose with ring in hand, find some excuse to bring her past your chosen jeweLler and tell her you need to pop in.....and say, "Are you wondering why we are here??"........

Update:
She said yes.
The ring (provided by PHer Nightmare) was exactly what I wanted and she loves it. My covert finger measuring even worked out and the size was spot on.
Congratulations! She said yes.

Remember that is your bit done now! Now sit back, relax, agree to whatever she wants and brace yourself for some more large cheques to be written!

I always worry about how these threads will end
I was actually pretty calm until I started to get down onto one knee and ... well, then I sort of half fell off the chair on my way to kneeling! That apart, it went exactly to plan.

Excellent, that gives her a good story to tell her mates too. This appears to be important. I was actually pretty calm until I started to get down onto one knee and ... well, then I sort of half fell off the chair on my way to kneeling! That apart, it went exactly to plan.
Prepare to have your opinion asked on all sorts of things you really don't give a damn about. (Flowers are just flowers. Who gives a rats' todger if you have peonies?)
