I had a Big Mac Meal today. Looking on the McDonalds website at the numbers I still don't understand why it is nutritionally "bad" for me?
Its not - its meat and bread....you'll be fine wink
Sorry it was a little tongue in cheek as going off the comments of some in here you'd think it was poison.

I'll bet McDonalds can trace every bit of my meal a lot better than many "proper" restaurants can.

Maybe they are accidentally eating the packaging?

All the people saying it's just meat and veg in a bun, seem to be a little uneducated in the matter.

When the bun is made, it's packed full of sugar because they want to make very sweet bread. When I say packed, I mean packed. None of you also seem to be taking into consideration the amount of salt on the chips in there is horrendous.

That being said, I don't have kids, and I eat 2-3 a month myself, and when my future kids reach a certain age (probably about 7ish) I will probably start taking them once in a while as a treat.

Actually, McDonalds demonstrated that the entire thing of fries they have use 1 teaspoon of salt. On that all. Not per portion, but the whole fries storage thingy.

Too much salt?

May be they've confused it with Burger king.

Infact why doesn't Burger king come in for more stick? McDonalds has cleaned up its act over the last few years. From what I've seen and been forced to eat at motorway services Burger King has done naff all.

There's about the same salt in a Big Mac and fries, than in a tin of Heinz beans or a tin of soup.

How many of those banging on about how unhealthy it is would happily give their kids jacket potato and beans?

Even if you only give them 1/4 of a tin they get more salt than a chicken nugget happy meal with fries.

There's more fat in the nuggets, but its proper chicken and life is about all things in moderation as far as I'm concerned.

I can't stand McDonald's snobs, who assume the food is terrible without looking at the facts

Good idea! If I use my own vegetables it will be organic and I will lose weight.

Avoid if you have cannibalistic family member, though. Could be too tempting.

Really? Of all the places i eat - from 5* to kebab vans, McD's educate their customers on the food more than anywhere else.

yes Not many places give you as much information, certainly not restaurants.

Cheap food. High salt and sugar content. Deep fried. Sugar based drink. What's not to like?
While it is legal to sell this stuff. I wouldn't take a child there.

Typically 100 different cows in a typical McD burger. Source: McDonalds http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/whatmakesmcdonal...

Even their salads have an unhealthy sugar content.

High sugar content does wonderful things to addict the brain. Bingo - customer for life.

Now that's value for money. Unlike your organic cow burger who just happens to have cancer and you've just eaten 100% of the cancer in mince form. At least with a burger having 100 different cows, there's less chance of you eating one cow's minced tumor. biggrin

In terms of GDA's it doesn't seem especially high, though I'm not a nutritionist I'm just going off the percentages on the McDonalds website.

100 different cows in a burger, I don't know if that's actually a "bad thing" or just a fact tbh? Strikes me McDonalds can at least actually tell me that and my gut reaction is "Should I care?" in so much as are 100 pieces of "good cow" somehow worse than 1 piece of good cow?

And lots of things have high sugar, chocolate bars, M&S Sandwiches, you name it - the key is everything in moderation as I don't think anyone is suggesting McDonalds morning noon and night would be good for you any more than diet made exclusively of baked beans or carrots would be.
