I used to go to a crazy Italian who would have told Mussolini to STFU if he disapproved of Il Duce's lapel choice. Now I go to the splendid Joe Allen, who is more diplomatic.

It doesn't show up very well in this copy of the pic, but Cameron, Major, and Blair have all bothered to be well tailored; Brown has not, and there's a difference. Cameron's cuffs are too long. Blair is probably wearing Kilgour or Richard James, and is the winner.
Cameron apparently favours Richard James (thought he would know better); Blair (and, amazingly, Brown), Timothy Everest. I expect Blair has moved on now he thinks he's Holy Roman Emperor.

Every bloke needs at least one good suit, preferably hand made for the bloke, but at the least well tailored.

Can you seriously not think of an occasion where a decent suit might be needed?

This.

Jeff Banks shirts go really well with a good pair of jeans.

I hope you don't get told off because this thread might be "waste of bandwith" (I quote a PH mod).

Have a look at Cordings, they do nice stuff which lasts for ages.

Next is ok, as is Zara.

I normally buy a good quality pair of jeans for around the £100 mark, I hate paying it but they do last longer and fit well. I have a decent pair of smart boots and team it up with a polo shirt or knitted type top from Next, even Primark! I'm not too fussed i'll pick up whatever I like from anywhere (within reason)

PH is the WORST place to ask for fashion advice - Whatever you wear now can't be as bad as what people on here wear, and indeed, advise?

Don't do this! I get all my work shirts from these two but ordered some casual stuff nd the cut really was disgusting.
Could you have bought a slim fit by accident. I ordered one but sent it back as it didn't feel right. Normal cut/shape is fine.

Can't go wrong with Asda jeans. Cheap, last a good couple of years and then get bumped to the "Working on the car and general DIY" draw.

Really, middle aged surfer? Do you recommend he goes and buyers the complete works of Jamie 'git face' Oliver, a VW camper and holidays in Cornwall?

The OP is no longer a teenager and is asking about looking smarter.
