I used them to shift a load of CDs recently. Admittedly they didnt give much for the CDs, but I hadn't used them for years and they were just collecting dust! Also their iphone app makes scanning and sorting them so quick and easy. They came and collected them for free as well, so utterly hassle free.
The money took about a month to arrive, but it was all ok in the end.

I worked for a company that does something similar, and another guy there had worked for Musicmagpie in the past.
They take your CDs, re-box the ones that need re-boxing, clean the disc with a buffer (but only if they REALLY need to) then stick it on Amazon. According to the guy I worked with they have/had around 60 members of staff just processing CDs and DVDs with a target of 750 units per day. Normal CDs are around £3, more for anything in a larger 4-disc box.
Some CDs are quite rare and sell for £100 or more in Asia.
Quite a few of the CDs that aren't good enough for them to sell get sold to other companies (like the one I worked for) that do exactly the same thing, but to a "different" standard. The ones that my previous employer couldn't sell... got sold to another company with even lower standards
It was a st job, the factory was a dump (the canteen carpet had fleas ffs), almost everyone who worked there was a and I left after three months - which was about three months too long.

I just scanned in 160 DVD's yesterday for £63!! Daylight robbery, but i don't know what else to do? nobody will want them as a job lot for any more, and it's so much hassle to sell seperately!
Are there any better websites that offer you more?!
Not a website but if you're bothered enough go down to your local cex and see what you'll get I can bet it'll be more than that. Are there any better websites that offer you more?!
What me and the OH do is gather a load of dvds and games we don't watch or use anymore and take them down to cex they either offer you cash or store credit which is usually about 10 pounds more than the cash so we go for that option and get a couple of dvds or games we actually do want
I think they're great! Me and mrs siko scanned in our old DVDs and CDs that were just boxed up in the loft. Mostly run of the mill stuff, nothing rare or specialist. They collected it all a couple of days later and a week later or so we got a cheque for £350.
Which we then spent on a tent. in the middle of the wettest summer for donkeys years. Doh.

I just did a random search on Amazon for a cd I own and the first new/used listing was by zoverstocks with a price of 8p! Plus postage of 1.26
There doesn't seem to be much value in used cds! Either that or the prices have been continually forced down by companies like music magpie. With prices like these on amazon it's no wonder people grab the 30p offered by music magpie.

Zoverstocks is Music Magpie. The business model is based on under-cutting any competitor's price of whatever product you're after, every time, by a penny. And if no-one else is offering it, they charge whatever they think they can get away with. There doesn't seem to be much value in used cds! It's a funny business but it obviously is working because they run adds on the TV which aren't cheap, I just don't get where they resell the stuff second hand CDs seem to be limited to amazon and car boot sales since the indy record shops all closed in about 1995. I suspect they ship it all abroad.
They price based on their stock, so if you have a very popular CD then it's worth feck all, if you have a ste but rare CD that even though no one will ever want it they'll give you £3.
They don't seem to be doing too badly out of it all:They price based on their stock, so if you have a very popular CD then it's worth feck all, if you have a ste but rare CD that even though no one will ever want it they'll give you £3.

they also seem to sell stock in a shop called 'thats entertainment', some pretty good deals, lots of 3 for £5 and stuff, went into the shop in glasgow and didnt realise the stock was second hand, mostly in decent cases/ clean packaging, just looked like it had been knocking around in a warehouse for a while.
