You can’t be stirring birds with a Gerogi Morbidelli - that’s tantamount to heresy right there!

I'm pretty sure Blib is an Ambrosia man so it's all fine.

With the clocks changing and the weather getting a bit colder i have decided to put some of the collection into winter storage.

I have given each and every teaspoon a liberal coating with essence of narwhal and placed them on a bed of belly button fluff from the goat herders from Machu Picchu Peru , hopefully this will avoid any tarnishing.

My wife just came back from a car boot sale, overcome with the excitement of finding a Klart & Blogel Model 6. She'd paid £200.00 which of course would have been a pittance for such a thing. Once I'd pointed out that it was the Model 6a she was inconsolable.

No doubt that cad who sold it to her will appear here later with tales of "cave emebant et mortariola".

The 6a isn’t a bad stirrer really. I think some of the elite give it a hard time. I’ve got one in my kitbag which I’ve allowed my daughter to practice with.

It’s a good learning spoon, nice recurve and weight but you’re right that it’s hardly in the upper pantheons of the craft!

Don't forget to turn them over every week or so.

Good afternoon one and all. Long time lurker, first time poster and all that so please forgive my naivety.

I'm looking to purchase a basic, no nonsense utensil for stirring tea, instant coffee and maybe the occasional hot chocolate.

I'm thinking along the lines of a maximum of a 4 inch handle, if that's the correct term? The bit from the 'bowl' to the end anyhow.

Could anyone offer some recommendations please?

Instant coffee? Prepare yourself for some pain.

Good luck.

May I suggest a trip to Amazon for Vol iv of Dunsville Epworth's magnum opus; "Flatware since Hastings"

Chapter 6 will contain all you need to learn.

Oh dear, I'm afraid I hadn't reckoned upon the importance of the beverage concerned. Does it make that much difference for a novice?

I'm really just looking to make inroads now I have a little time and money to spare. In the past I've had to make do with a pencil with one of those little rubber things on the end of it.

"Does it make that much difference"?? ...Well yes , yes it does,

Where do you think the saying came from-

'Thee who stirith the wrong way
repenteth the rest of the day'

Got some news for you folks. Some of the posters on here are nut jobs. The only spoons they get to use in ward 27 are these things

[url]|https://thumbsnap.com/p77WaBwH[/url

They might mean well but their brains have gone. Burnt out due to stress. Broken people desperately trying to hold onto a life of past wealth. All they have left are the memories of the spoons.

Oh dear boy.

Try stirring an Earl grey with a Oolong spoon and let us know!

Earl Grey shouldn’t be approached with a spoon at all ... infused just before boiling , poured into a warmed China cup and finished with a squeeze of fresh lemon - spoon-free zone wink

I fear I may be a little out of my depth here, I've no idea what a 'Oolong Spoon' is.

It sounds rather more than the 4" handle I was considering? Could someone please point me in the direction of a basic, serviceable utensil I could use with a mug of Tetley? (two sugars and a drop of milk)

Thanks.

Those things ( teaspoon by name but really are scrap metal shapes) are far too long and he asked for a 4" handle.

This is a fairly basic spoon perfect for the beginner, not too difficult to handle and won't overstir into the nearest China barrier.

That's very decent of you to post that old chap, but I'm not sure I'd have use for 24 of them?

I have to say I hadn't realised the whole business was so full of dratted complications. I'll have a lie down and reconsider my options.

Incidentally, has anyone imported one from Scandinavia?
