I think I might need a pair of thicker socks as they are a tiny amount too big on one foot, but nevertheless, fantastic providing you dont want to wallow in mud and puddles.

biggrin

Also picked this up on the cheap as it was on offer, plus we get an extra 25% from John lewis.

Perfect to sling on for damp days, providing you already have a jumper on or summink.

Let's get this right.
You've bought some Muck Boots and one is a different size to the other.
And you've bought a non waterproof jacket for damp days?
Lets hope it's a dry Winter with not much walking to do scratchchin
hehe

I do appear to have odd sized matching feet so I can't help that!

And the coat is weather resistant more than proof, but primarily more as another layer for a chilly/damp day/eve.

Having said that, i did get caught out in a shower a few days ago and i kept dry underneath so it must be weather something.

thumbup

I do have a couple of waxed jackets but can't really be doing with the weight of them, so i purchased a quilted weatherproof Stormforce coat and that is fantastic, although i can't remember the name of it as they don't have them on the inside!

Anybody able to recommend a good 'casual' type walking trouser? I have what I would term 'technical' kit from revolution race etc. for more purposeful walks but I want something that matches with my barbour that's a little more suited to being in the forest than Jeans.

I have a couple of waxed jackets but don't find them particularly heavy. Does anyone else experience this issue - am I just used to them?

I find mine quite heavy but then it would be compared to the latest man made technical stuff like North Face.

Doesn’t bother me, find it reassuring as I know the North Face wouldn’t take kindly to hacking through the bushes.

In essence they shouldn't be super heavy as they are meant for having layers underneath. Are you talking trendy wax jackets or the full on sheep herder 3 quarter length wax jacket?

This is why everyone should have a collection of different styles :-)

This thread seems like a good place to start asking, perhaps someone can help...

I'm looking for a hat to wear, when walking the dog in the rain. I want to stop the rainwater running down my neck.

It's often a bit drafty when it's raining, so I want it to stay on in the wind, but try to keep the rain out of my neck.

Something between the brim on a sun hat, and the brim on a sombrero.

Oh, and it would be nice to not look like Crocodile Dundee too. I live in Devon, not the Walkabout Creek!

Have a look at the Helikon range , some of them are less walty than others, I bought a pair and they are all I have worn over lockdown.

Deerstalker for me, used for the dog walking / training, fishing and shooting. Only in summer do I go for a baseball type cap.

I have one of these. Other half hates it smile

But stops rain from glasses and neck very effectively

Plus it’s upcycled so you can feel smug

Or a filson tin cloth bush hat

I’m not trendy. Lol

The one that comes down to half way down my thighs.

I have 2. One with a zip in fleece layer and one without.

Looks good, thanks. I don't care if the wife hates it, she doesn't walk the dog with me in good weather, nevermind bad!

I take it that it's waterproof enough.

I’ve never had an issue but I did treat it with some proofing spray as well. The filson might be better as I think it’s wax impregnated. But I wear my Brazil hat often when it looks like rain, don’t remember it failing.

Also got some waterproof boonie hats
