I was at the ex's brother's house in Shorpe (we lived near there) a few years back and when we arrived, her dad was there and this guy who seemed nice and I had no idea who he was. We chatted, he asked what I did (I told him and we talked about it) and I asked what he did and we chatted a bit about his "job in football" which he didn't elaborate too much on, as I said that "football wasn't my thing".

What I didn't spot at the time (which, in hindsight I can see) was her dad, brother and even she was shaking their heads and facepalming at my overall ignorance to all things local. Her dad is an ex-Shorpe United footballer (and even played with Kevin Keegan) - And the "guy" was the (then) Shorpe United manager - Still can't remember his name even now though hehe
that's a tenuous connection to a tenuously 'famous' person
The thread title does say tenuous biggrin

Mine spent some time trying to figure out how someone could have an "ex brother", until I read it properly.

quite a few from my missus...but she grew up in LA, so that could be classed as cheating.

-Sat on the table next to Cypress Hill at an upscale restaurant in Beverly Hills.
-Bumped into Cuba gooding Jr downtown somewhere in a bar, complimented him on his recent movie at the time, he was an arrogant ass, so she gave as good as she got.
-Used to hang out at Rob Bourdon's house (Linkin Park's drummer)

I wondered how tenuous that link was - I tried so hard but realised that in the end it doesn't really matter.....................

I once walked in on Tony Blair while he was in his bedroom at chequers. Thankfully he was fully clothed.

I used to work beside and live in the next village to Euan McIlwraith's Brother...

...I attended Nick Nairn's Cook School once as a birthday present...

...And I met Dougie Vipond once at a pre-Christmas drinks do next door a few years ago. (Although I didn't recognise him or realise who he was at the time!)

It's like a lad's night in when I put Landward on the telly!

(Well, the title did say 'tenuous!)

My Mum used to date Roger Daltrey in the late 60's. Months later Mum met my Dad and i was conceived. There's an in joke in the family that i could be Daltrey's illegitimate love child. I'm not, obviously.

well at least it's a proper famous person... or group of people. His wife used to 'party' with the band. She sounds fun!

Just remembered another.

The wife is a nanny, the nanny family live next door to Annie Emmerson; former triathlete and now sports commentator, her sister is married to the actor Ian Glenn, the wife has met him and says he's lovely.

I mean technically i'm tenuously linked to aforementioned celeb encounters through her, so I think it sort of counts!

Gonna go for Brian Laws (he's done the job about a hundred times) or possibly Nigel Adkins.
